Guest guest
I would think you are correct about it possibly being further die-off. We too had a period where nightmares were intense, I believe that is part of what prompted the rotation of treatments for us, Culturelle helped also I believe. For us, social improvements grew the most with Ojibwa tea. We saw nightmares become more of an issue as his ability for pretend play increased. We saw it as a jump in cognition level, but hampered a bit by the emotional roller coaster he found himself on. We did a few things, like I said we rotated the GSE, OLE and OoO after that, we started using Culturelle shortly after that too, so maybe that helped stop it. But mostly we played into it (checked the closet, gave him a flashlight and pretend billy club, lots of stuffed animals in bed, came to him when he cried out from a nightmare) . Most 5-10 yr. olds are scared of things that go bump in the night, it's just with our kids it's kicked up a few decibels by their central nervous systems having a hard time regulating. Yeast die off makes me emotional too, and I don't sleep real well, tired all the time, but no solid sleep, nightmares, toss and turn, etc. Firm back rubs are what some have suggested, including Dr. Megson, but that's just to get you through it. To get you past it, I agree that you're going to have to uncover the underlying trigger. For us it was yeast and bacteria, I believe that was it anyway. Since we rotate GSE, OoO and OLE I notice we don't get nightly nightmares any longer, but we also introduced Culturelle at about the same time ( do to some brief improvements on antibiotics last year), so hard to say if it's one or the other or both. Good luck to you and your munchkin. REPLY......I just read the info on the BED diet, from the ANDI page, and in it is the suggestion that adding anything new and getting 'upsets' is still a Herxheimer (withdrawal type) reaction. Perhaps if you tried using the baking soda water doses? That is recommended for the Herxeimer melt downs. This is also what the writer of that diet page says causes the 1 step forward, 3 steps back display in recovering. Let us know if you try the Baking soda and water and if it 'works'. Also, there's the DMG try, the Melatonin, the 5-HTP, which has the tryptophan, as does turkey and milk, Folic Acid tabs, B6 and Magnesium... sometimes they need more of the B vitamins, sometimes less because the enzymes make nutrients more available. Do you have some 'professional' helping you with his protocol that you might ask about these items? Info about some of them is found on the Center for the Study of Autism, out of! > Oregon, USA... www.autism.org and ossibly on the Great Plains Laboratory web site. grandma peg > > > > > >
