Guest guest
I just received an email from our DAN doctor. He mentioned enzymes from " Dr Bradstreet " . who is this & where can I check out these products, even though I'm currently waiting for my 1st order (all 4 products) from Houston Nutraceuticals. I'm a bit frustrated. I understand that the doc wants to be try only one thing at a time to see what/if anything helps my son, but I can't stand the waiting, procrastinating!!! I feel like a rat in a maze, getting nowhere fast!! any words of advice? encouragement? thanx for listening everyone!! Eileen
Guest guest
Words of encouragement: Try one thing at a time so you don't have to start all over if your child is sensitive. Our son is extremely sensitive to almost everything, so we had to go painfully slowly. I thought I would go nuts, but my husband kept reminding me why...It was better for my son's little body, and he finally got up to full dosages on everything. He's doing great and making wonderful progress. Dr. Bradstreet is a DAN! dr. in Florida who has treated his own son very successfully. It sounds like he recommends different enzymes. Our experience has been that Houston's are hands down the best. I have recommended them to other parents who haven't seen results from other enzymes. They have called me to tell me that Houston's did something the others didn't. I know this sounds like a Tide commercial or something, but I am so grateful to Dr. Houston for these enzymes. Our son's therapy supervisor said she was about to strongly recommend medication because of 's hyperactivity. The day she had planned to address the issue, had been on enzymes for about two weeks. He sat down and played purposefully and quietly for the 1 1/2 hour clinic. Her jaw dropped and she asked what we were doing differently. We told her. She went to get the owner/supervisor of the clinic who sat and watched , then asked for the name of the enzymes so she could pass them along to other parents. Biomedical interventions are powerful. I don't think autism is just one thing - different kids have different issues: gastrointestinal, allergies, heavy metals, viral. If something doesn't work, try to figure out why. This is a wonderful group to help tease things out. Blessings on your weekend as you wait. Tell your doctor you've ordered the Houston's and you might as well give them a try anyway. If he hasn't heard of them, ask if he wants to hear the ingredients. He probably won't : ) There are many different enzyme products out there, and you have happened to start with the best in my opinion! Wishing you all the best as you start this journey, , mom to (7, autistic) and (8, heavy metals) Dr Bradstreet > I just received an email from our DAN doctor. The name of his enzyme is Digest Right. The website on the bottle is www.learners edge.info. Dr. Bradstreet believes mainly in sticking to GFCF diet and eliminating food allergies that are detected during blood Sage allergy testing by doing an elimination diet. During the initial elimination diet, he has you eliminate the foods that tested real high on the Sage test, but allows you to eat foods that are considered slightly allergic with the Digest Right enzymes. Although, last time we saw him, he admitted that more people are having success using enzymes and not being so strict with the diet. I asked him about Houston enzymes and he said that he did not have a problem with us using them, but did not like the Bromelain and the Papain as he feels that so many of our kids don't do well with it. Initially, we did the diet and used the Digest Right as Dr. Bradstreet recommended. In comparing the dosage of enzymes in digest right to houstons, I feel that you would have to take a lot more of the Digest Right to get the same affect that you would get from Houston enzymes. Eventually, I found the diet too difficult to keep and am now using the new Houston enzymes without the Bromelain and the Papain. He seems to be doing much better on a less stringent diet while using the new Zyme Prime and AFP Peptizyde. Hope this helps, Myra
Guest guest
I think the take-home message is to try some good quality enzymes and the mention of a doctor gives the message pizzazz and more credibility (as in 4 out of 5 doctors recommend...or...a medical person has considered this...). Sometimes a doctor will recommend a particular one just because they get paid to do it, or because it is the only enzyme product they know about. The Houston ones are the main ones most effective for most people with autism so you are fine with going with those. Actually, it was the Houston enzymes which brought all the attention to digestive enzymes to the forefront. Those were the ones that revolutionized what enzymes could do in autism conditions and turned attention to enzyme therapy. There are many enzyme brands on the market...some very good, many so- so, and a fair amount that aren't very good. Which ones will prove best for you will depend on your exact situation and biology. There might be a particular food you need to tackle, other health goal, or an ingredient in a product that is not tolerated. Start each enzyme product one at a time. This minimizes adjustment reactions and also lets you know if a particular product is tolerated before starting another one. .
Guest guest
My son was going to Dr. Bradstreets office and seeing one of the nurses and he wanted him on the diet. He never did the Sage test, we did the Digest Right and my son seemed to need a lot it. I've been giving him the Houston enzymes and far less is needed. The diet is impossible for us to do because everyone who cares for my son is on a different track as far as the diet goes. My son does have a yeast problem which the nurse just seemed to not really focus on. So now I need to rid the yeast and get my son back on track.
