I started out giving her one capsule of each. Whoa! I stopped and restarted a few weeks later. I started with a small amount of zp and upped it over a week or so til I got to one cap. Same with pep and no fenol. We recently went up to 1 1/2 cap of each, every time she eats. She had another mood improvement with this recent increase. I wouldn't give up on the enzymes--we have seen so much improvement (better mood, less undigest. food in stool, more energy, better sleep) especially since we added no fenol. May be you could give less for awhile and up it slowly. We started on SCD version (cellulose filler) but some think the rice bran version is preferable--different for different people. Some people mix them in food. Others mix them in liquid. We do about a teaspoon and a half of water, mix in enzymes and give it in a medicine syringe. Initially she resisted but now takes it very well. > Good luck and keep asking questions.

Guest guest
It is possible that your son doesn't tolerate papain or bromelain, and the SCD version doesn't have these ingredients. I waited three weeks before trying the SCD version (we worked up slowly to the 1 capsule per meal). I guess our adjustment period was over (he had experienced hyperactivity), but it was so obvious that that was the problem when we started the SCD version. No more dark circles under his eyes, no more diarreah, just plain happy. This may not be the problem for you, and I think an adjustment period is really common, but it's worth a try.
