I got a book today called Earl Mindell's New Vitamin Bible. I

wanted to share with you what is says about colds (since I know that

a few of you are probably dealing that).

It says to start out with a good all natural multi vitamin and

glycinated mineral complex with digestive enzymes for better

absorption.

Rose Hips vitamin C 1,000mg 3-6 times daily for 3 days

Beta-carotene 10,000 IU 1-3times daily (take for 5 days and stop for

2)

Water 6-8 glasses daily

3 acidophilus capsules 3 times a day or 1-2tbsp liquid 3 times daily

Zinc Lozenge (let dissolve in mouth) 3-4 times daily

Echinacea, American feverfew and elderberry extract 1 dropper every

3-4 hours as needed.

It is suggested in avoiding refined carbohydrates, caffeine, alcohol

and foods containing artificial flavors, colors or additives.

Zinc lozenges have literally changed my life. I used to get

horrible sinus infections with every cold I got, and never a

sniffle, always a full blown horrible virus that put me in bed for

five days. Now I suck on zinc at the first sign of a cold, and

bingo, no sinus infections, less sick for shorter period. I'm a

zealot about the stuff. But be careful about dosage. I've tried

other brands (Cold Ease is what I swear by) and they haven't been as

strong.

Is that safe to give to a child? My daughter is down with a cold and we are

having to use some over the counter products to help with the cough and to clear

out the chest congestion.

I should mention that we are using this in addition to the Collidial Silver.

I just went to www.coldeeze.com (sorry, I spelled it wrong earlier)

and see that there's a kids sucker of zinc and vitamin C. The only

thing I couldn't find on the site is a list of those " other

ingredients " like the one on my bag of the lozenges. I think there

might be a throat spray, as well, so that might not have the

artificials. (Or, it might have more and worse artificials!)

Here's what's in the lozenges:

13.3 mg of ionic zinc from Zincum Gluconicum

corn syrup, fruit extracts, gluconic acid, glycine and sucrose. NO

ARTIFICIAL COLORS OR PRESERVATIVES.

But if corn syrup is a problem...
