Guest guest
>>> Is pH an issue with ASD kids? Here is a fun spot to learn about pH. Pictures! http://www.miamisci.org/ph/ I don't know if it is an issue or not but lean greatly toward not. It is a big deal in soil fertility, and some people think it is important in humans. In soils, it is important for the root environment and availability of nutrients, but inside the plant, it is carefully regulated and isn't an issue. Similarly, the body keeps very tight control of pH in the blood or internally in the body. If it was significant factor, it might be in the stomach initially BEFORE nutrients get into the body. I don't know if you can go on day by day elimination because various factors can affect pH. For example, say one day you ate more meat/protein and the next 2 days you ate much less. What is the buffering capacity? This makes a huge difference. What about bowel elimination time? Considering the amount of transit time there is for the food to pass through the body, it would be hard to correlate what was causing what and if it was at all significant. >>>> Also, are ionized minerals better than others? I would have to look at this more. I would just stay with a reputable brand of supplement. .
Guest guest
Its difficult to get a relevant and appropriate reading, Did you use urine or salvia? Willis is very good on pH stuff, yes it is important to the body as a whole rather a specific part of it. You can simply mail him with your question _Willissl@..._ (mailto:Willissl@...) HTH Mandi i n UK Recently trying to understand the relevance of pH. Is this something that should be tracked? dd's reading today revealed a pH of 6.2 with high alkalinity? Guest guest
There are a bunch of books out there on pH. Most recently The Biochemical Machine and also The pH Miracle. Unfortunately, the latter is marketed as a weight loss book. The former is somewhat marketed as a weight loss book. A lot of other books on this theory are no longer in print. It is one of those areas that the medical community poo-poos but more likely than not is valid. My cousin was given basically a death sentence from cancer and has been cancer free for years by going to an alkaline diet. While it is true that our bodies regulate the acidity with an incredible buffer system, by keeping it acid we really tax our bodies and the theory is it causes a lot of disease. I don't know that this acid/base balance directly affects autism. I know it affects many other organ systems. BTW, a pH of 6.2 is acidic, not alkaline (basic). I don't know the answer to your mineral question. Robin

But if it is something you can easily track, you might as well try it for a while, see if you notice anything interesting. Based on my info from keeping fish, pH 6.2 seems a little acid, not a little alkaline. Dana
