Guest guest
I have not changed his diet. He is getting 1/2 tablet each of afp peptizyde and hn-zyme prime with each meal. And about 1/4 tablet of no-fenol with each meal. He has been staying up ALL night, he cannot sleep. With a 20 year old, it is better to let him stay up and watch TV than try to get him to lay down. Perhaps I am just too eager to make this work and upping the supplements too fast? All ideas welcomed. VickiB
Guest guest
My son had difficulties sleeping when we first started the AFP Pep. We had to increase the dose very slowly or he would have problems. You don't say how long he's been taking the enzymes -- adjustment time can be up to three weeks. Maybe you should drop two of the enzymes and just start with one, like Pep or ZP. Then you'll know which one is making him restless? > I have not changed his diet. When I first started it, it did cause my son to be slightly hyper in the evening. Conversely, your son might be eating foods that the enzymes are not addressing. For example, enzymes did not help my son with corn. That might be causing the sleep issues. Is the ZP the SCD variety? If not, he might not tolerate papain/bromelain, which can cause sleep issues. If you are giving high doses of vitamins, especially B vitamins, he might be absorbing those better, causing hyper. Dana

He also gets NO vitamins because, like your children, he doesn't tolerate much. So from the replies I got, I must be too aggressive. He did sleep last night, just not the night before. Perhaps it is also the time at which he gets his last meal. Lately he's been asking for more dinner shortly after he eats. I am too eager, plus since he starts summer school tomorrow, I wanted the enzymes in place before that time. I did try him on steamed brown rice last weekend (off SCD) but that was a big mistake. I thought maybe since that was still in his system, maybe that was why he didn't sleep? Friday night after eating the rice he didn't sleep but the following night he did and then the next night (Sunday night) he didn't sleep again. Last night he slept all night. Guest guest
> Dana, my son follows the SCD so corn is not an issue. That was just an example. SCD uses quite a lot of foods that my son did not tolerate, even with enzymes. If you want, try removing anything on this list that your son still eats, see if you notice anything in 2-3 days http://www.saras-autism-diet.freeservers.com/Diet/Saras_Diet_I.html >>Lately he's been asking for more > dinner shortly after he eats.
