Hi ,

I'm in Charlottesville! I have only spoken to someone connected to

VIA -- she was not interested in talking about biomed intervention

The pediatrician will have to send you to a pediatric neurologist or child

psychiatrist. Our kids have seen both specialist. Child psychiatrist is

excellent so is a developmental pediatrician.

All schools need dx for placement.

Hi!

Do you think this is a general feeling at the school, or an

individual? My husband is out there now, and I asked him to go check

it out. I will make sure he asks someone about their general

feelings and see if they would be supportive of the

diet/interventions etc. What other intervention programs do they

have out there? Please email me off list so we aren't wasting

everyones time. jsporter4@... I would love to hear more about

the area too. This is the biggest move I have ever made in my 32

years of life! Thanks for your time! I would love to talk more!

My son received a variety of potential diagnosis depending on who was

doing the diagnosing. I wasn't nearly as concerned about a label as

what to do about the issues. I think you need to just look around and

start checking out various specialties. Our big break was with a

traditional neurologist. But it is really the individual person that

might be able to help you and not the specialty. It is what that

person believes and can offer you, not their official 'label'.

You might want to work it the other way too. Find out what services,

therapies, or school your son would do best with, then find which

labels allow him to get that and then see if the doctor agrees. Or

find out which diagnosis or specialist the school values. It would be

hard if you go to all the trouble to get a dx from a psychiatrist but

the school wants something from a pediatric neurologist.
