Guest guest
I'm trying to get my daughter off of cow's milk as she is allergic and 'addicted' to it. Can anyone tell me the difference between Rice milk and Goats milk? Particularily, which one would be the better choice. My daughter is extremely sensitive to taste and is not eating solids either. Thanks Shauna and Jesi Re: Need Serious Help > Thank you for your reply Dana. That makes a lot ot sense. I will definately get her going on the Peptizyde. Do you think I should still switch her over to Goats milk, or would the Peptizyde do fine in the homo milk? If you would like to still give her cow milk, try using the enzyme with that at first. If you still notice problems, then you can switch to goat milk. >>If I was to switch her to Goats milk would I have to continue putting the Peptizyde in it? Probably yes. But some kids still have problems with cow milk and enzyme, but they don't with goat milk. Most kids with casein intolerance, have problems with both cow and goat, at least at first. Later, as the gut heals, most kids do better with goat than cow. Dana

My daughter is extremely sensitive to taste and is not eating solids either. Goat milk will taste more like cow, but it also contains casein. Rice is usually better for kids who don't tolerate milk [casein], altho it will taste significantly different. Dana
Guest guest
My son also has very sensitive taste and smell. The only milk substitute that he would drink was potatoe milk. It is called Darifree and Kirkman's sells it and some other places too. It is a very nice tasting substitute and looks like regular milk (some others have a different colour to them which would send up red flags for my son) Laurie > > Thank you for your reply Dana. Guest guest
>>> Can anyone tell me the difference between Rice milk and Goats milk? Particularily, which one would be the better choice. From the view of composition these are two distinct things. Goat milk would have the properties of a true mammal milk while rice 'milk' is actually vegetable juice. Mammal milk can contain many beneficial things which can sustain a young mammals life (rice juice can't do that for a little rice-ling). It has fats, carbs, proteins, antimicrobial properties, immune system boosters, minerals, lactoferrin, and other things. Rice juice doesn't contain this profile. Goat milk would taste more like cow milk. It does have casein but the casein is different. Some people who can't tolerate cow milk do just fine on goat or sheep milk products, while some cannot. In the SCD group, there are several using goat dairy because the kids don't tolerate cow dairy. Even Rimland wrote that reindeer milk was fine while cow's milk might be a problem, so even in GFCF ideology, other mammal milk was okay...it was cow milk that was to be avoided. You may find that in your particular case you want to try goat dairy or just go with rice. There is more on cow dairy versus other dairy at the www.pecanbread.com site and at http://www.enzymestuff.com/discussiondairy.htm When we were trying to find a milk sub, the only thing the boys liked at all was Almond Breeze. There might be some newer products on the market now. .
