Guest guest
This maybe irrelevant but thought let you know... I was giving my son Acidophyllis and Pro-bio gold for about 4 months now. Pfeiffer told me recently that based on my son's stool test, Acidophyllis didn't help a bit!! Instead, they suggested using Primal Defense. However, I could give all three of the probiotics until I run out of whatever I was using before... So, I'm assuming I can give all three of the probiotics without any " side-effects " . > > > Is there such a thing? I am giving my son a culturelle and we are > > trying Threelac as well. Guest guest
Sometimes " side-effects " (like die-off) mean that the supplement is working, so not all side-effects are necessarily a bad thing. Pfeiffer suggested continuing all three because it would not hurt your son. Die-off is not detrimental, just unpleasant if it happens too quickly. They suggested Primal Defense (which also contains acidophilus) because it has 14 strains of bacteria. Since acidophius wasn't doing the trick, then surely one of the other 13 strains would help. I'm sure that was their rationale. Guest guest
Just in case you haven't seen this on the boards, I thought I'd jump in and mention that in some kids Primal Defense causes bad constipation and even impaction. Not that you shouldn't use it, just so you're aware if you start it... We didn't have a big problem with Primal Defense, but for some reason I can't remember we switched to Metagenics Ultra Flora Plus, also recommended by Pfeiffer, and we love it. The powder smells kind of sweet, and he takes it with 1/2 tsp. of juice eagerly. Just my 2 cents. > > > > > Is there such a thing?
