Start slowly! One enzyme at a time, 1/4 capsule for a bit, build up

from there. Then start the next the same way. Do no-fenol last,

especially if your son has any yeast issues, as it can really work

on the yeast and cause dieoff reactions.

He still nurses, so I was wondering if he has to take enzymes

I'm nursing my 2 1/2 year old and I don't do enzymes before she

nurses but I do follow her very restricted diet.

My understanding is Zyme Prime is a general enzyme

formulation and Peptizyde is designed for gluten and casein

proteins, and works for other proteins. However, many of us give

both Zyme Prime and Peptizyde before every snack/ meal. I do

Yes, start one at a time just to ease the adjustment and make sure

each is tolerated. There isn't any one that has to be taken before

the others. I usually suggest the Zyme Prime first because it will

address general food digestion across the board and doesn't seem to

produce the adjustment effects as dramatic as the other ones can. A

more 'gentle' start. Then either the Peptizyde or No-Fenol (I usually

go with Peptizyde because of the dairy/grain issue and the overall

healing effects it has).

You might want to try it both ways and see if taking them before

nursing helps more or not. Such as 5-6 days with enzymes and then 5-6

without. Breastmilk is raw milk and so would have natural enzymes in

it as well as other nutrients, and likely more digested naturally. It

also doesn't go through the processing that store-bought milk does.

On the other hand, when someone has impaired digestion or injured

gut, anything eaten may be problem...not just milk or grains. So that

would explain any benefits seen with enzymes taken with nursing.

Depends on what is triggering the eczema. Peptizyde helped my older

son's eczema. Probiotics and EFAs have also been reported to help in

individual cases by other parents.

Can anyone confirm this?

That is true in general. Remember that many foods are not strictly

carbs or proteins though. Corn, grains, dairy, etc contain both. So

if you find Peptizyde with bread helps, although bread is mostly

starch, Peptizyde might be helping with the small protein quantity in

that bread.

Ask your pharmacist if the time-release med contains cellulose.

Sometimes cellulose is added to create the time-release function. If

cellulose is not in the product, there isn't any problem with taking

with any enzymes.

If cellulose is in the med, then avoid taking it with any product

containins cellulase (with Ase, not cellulose with Ose). Cellulase is

in Zyme Prime and No-Fenol of the Houston enzymes. Most all broad-

spectrum products contain cellulase.

A mom of a autism teenager (non-verbal with seizures) called a month

or so ago and needed an enzyme for her son who was on time-released

seizure medication. She was checking the ingredients but it was slow

going and she wanted to start enzymes. A combination I found without

cellulase was:

- Peptizyde (for the dairy/grain/proteins)

- Lypo from Enzymedica. Although Lypo is billed for high fat or low

carb diets, it contains a blend of amylases, proteases, lipases and

lactase. No cellulase but can still serve as a broad spectrum enzyme

product. Interesting that it has lactase in it.

The mom called me back a few weeks later and said that not only was

her son improving on this combination, she personally was feeling

much better taking it.

If there were very minor or no adjust effects, I would say do one for

5-7 days, then start another one (or earlier if you like). If there

are adjustment effects, hold the whatever dose you are at until they

fade off (usually a day or two)...then continue. This is the ultra-

conservative way. If you started with 1 full capsule of Zyme Prime

and 1 full capsule of Peptizyde and did just great, that's fine too.
