Guest guest Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 I took my 10 year old to sensory learning in Encitinas, California. Worked great for me too. The biggest improvement was social skills. Sensorylearning.com has more info on it. austinsmommy24 <JenRP76@...> wrote:Hi everyone, I have a son with ADHD, sensory issues and OCD. We've tried different things with him the one thing that worked best was sensory integration, we went to The Sensory Learning Center in Vancouver (www.sensorylearning-vancouver.com) . It was awesome! Guest guest Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 Did y'all do regular sensory therapy or did you do the one with the moving table and the flashing lights? ~Grace Re: sensory learning I took my 10 year old to sensory learning in Encitinas, California. Guest guest Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 I was really interested in what I read about this and tried explaining it to my dh and showing him the website, but he said it sounded like a rip-off and wouldn't look. (It is painfully expensive) Is there anything that you know of to show the effectiveness of this treatment? Like how many kids show a positive response to treatment or anything along those lines? TIA! ~Grace Re: sensory learning I took my 10 year old to sensory learning in Encitinas, California. Worked great for me too. The biggest improvement was social skills. Guest guest Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 There must be something to it, because my son's vision therapist used this with him every week for 8 months. He's SID in addition to everything else (which I understand a lot of AS kids are). He improved a great deal. My guess is that it actually reconnects/retrains certain pathways in the brain. Guest guest Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 I didn't see pricing on their website. Does anyone have a ball park? Guest guest Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I've never talked to a parent that said their child didn't show improvement. Every one has seen gains, I don't know if there are studies or not. You could call a center, sometimes (if OK with other parent) they have references. Guest guest Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Age doesn't matter too much, some insurances do. Are you going to try it? Did y'all do regular sensory therapy or did you do the > one with the moving table and the flashing lights? > > > > ~Grace > > Re: sensory learning Quote
Guest guest Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Im not sure if this helps but my son went to a sensory center for about 3 years and it helped so much. He no longer goes because we moved out of state and they dont seem to offer it here. Anyway, my son hated water, I mean hated. Now you cant get him out of the pool, unfortunately he is allergic to chlorine(we just found out) so swimming doesnt happen much around here anymore. I also could only get him to eat certain things, hes better about that. And he can handle wearing his clothes a whole school day but as soon as he steps in the door there is a trail of clothes leading to his room. > I've heard wonderful things about The sensory learning center, a lot > of children have had tremendous results. www.sensorylearning- > vancouver.com Has anyone tried their program? > Jem Quote
Guest guest Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Expensive, and for us, no results whatsoever. Quote
Guest guest Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Curious what kinds of therapy you all do for your kids with sensory issues. Anyone familiar with www.sensorylearning.com? Kathy Quote
