The TIMING should be as listed in the file whether TD or oral.

In other words, TD DMSA should be used every 4 hours.

The DOSE listed is an ORAL dose. The TD amount would be

different and equivalent is unknown.

(yes, some are because I know it has come up in recent

With the oral DMSA...I always wonder how in the world people get

their kids to take it even through the night. How do you do that? I

mean, if I were to wake my son in the middle of the night and try to

get him to take it, he wouldn't do it. How do you all do it with

oral DMSA?

I don't wake him up. I murmur, " Pill time, open up " and slip the

capsule into his mouth, then put a water bottle to his lips and he

sucks and swallows. Never wakes up, takes 3 seconds. Also I have

n sleep in my bed during chelation nights so I don't even have to

get up. MUCH easier on me :).

Others use a spoonful of applesauce, yogurt, or juice -- they can give

you details of doing it for kids who can't swallow caps yet.

When my son couldn't swallow pills, I used a syringe. He never really woke

up.

Now, I use those really small capsules to put the dose in, hide it in a spoon

full of apple sauce, and... he takes it. He doesn't really wake up.

Actually yesterday he told me: " Mommy, tonight you should come to my room and

give me apple sauce " :))

Trish,

They wake up (maybe not even), swallow it down, and go right back to sleep.

Trish,

My son is 3.5 and swallows capsules, but at night I mixed the DMSA

in some juice and syringed it in so he doesn't wake up. He uses a

pacifier at night, so as soon as I take it out and put the syringe

to his mouth, he starts to suck it, lol!

We just completed 2 trial rounds over holiday break of oral DMSA/ALA

every 3 hrs. He was the best I had ever seen him during the rounds,

however the YEAST is the worst I have ever seen it. It has taken me

almost 2.5 wks. of severe yeast stimming regression to get him back

on track. I won't be going the oral DMSA route again anytime soon.

With the oral ALA (we have been doing that with his td dmps for

about 3 mos. now) I am able to get his yeast back on track about 3

days after the round, the DMSA mess really took me off gaurd, even

though I was soooo prepared with his usual arsenal of anti fungals!
