Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Yes, she did complain of a stomach ache early on with VS. This passed in a couple of days, and we even give the VS with a little bit of yogurt. I do know somebody else tried giving 3X the amount of enzymes she was giving as she had to give with food. I don't know if this would work, or not, . Sorry, not terribly helpful, maybe someone else will have a better idea. Good luck, [ ] Virastop on an empty stomach I would like to try Virastop on my son, however, he has never been able to tolerate supplements on an empty stomach. I would give him his pills, send him to school, and they would call me an hour later saying he had thrown up Has anyone experienced this problem with Virastop? Quote
Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 , Do you give the 12-20 capsules a day in addition to other supplements (i.e just regular vitamins/minerals, zinc, probiotics, etc)? If I did that my son would be taking 22-30 capsules a day! Is that even possible? I would really like to give this a try, but that # is so daunting. Do you really have to give 12-20 per day or could 4-5 per day work. Do you drop all the other supplements while you are doing this? For how long? Sorry for all the questions. Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Not , but you are right, it is daunting. 3 times/day I empty the VS capsules into a small container with Colostrum, Candex, GSE and some amino acids, add some elderberry extract and pear juice, shake it like crazy, and put it in one of those medicine things (not a syringe) and make him drink it about an hour before he eats. I usually have to fill it up twice per dose. It is, actually, the least offensive, part of his regimen (I think the elderberry extract makes it a lot more palatable. If only the rest of his disgusting stuff went down as well as this! Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 The only way to find out is to ask. I have certainly done plenty of that. We are only up to 6 Vs a day. We plan to go to 12 and hold for a month, if we can make it. No, can't drop the other supplements as there is the chelation to worry about. We are only on a multivitamin powder, probiotics and CLO, and, yes, Armour, which also has to be given on an empty stomach. You really do feel like you are shoving something in their mouth about every 10 minutes, especially when chelating, and you are. No easy way to do it. But it is easier if you get improvements. Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 , That number of 12-20 a day would be very high for a small child. I'm a grown woman, and at 9 a day I was having a response uncomfortable enough to make me regret my little experiment since it was at the same time as my son was falling apart. I sound like a broken record here, but I really think that the VS is something you need to go slowly with, and I also think that it will work best if you use another antiviral or two with it. Choose something that is easy to dose. Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 , I don't disagree with Anita, but want to add that it really seems to depend on the child. My son is only 36 lbs and we had him up at 18VS/day +1000 mgs OLE with really nice progress and none of these horrible viral side effects people are talking about, until recently. Now we have a cold and mouth sores (it appears they are inside and out) some spaciness, slurred articulation (not that it was perfect to begin with!). We are also seeing some nice things - better concentration when not spacey, better vocabulary, etc. I am actually thinking we may need to take it higher to start moving the viruses along. Seems like this one (probably the first of many) has just been lingering for the last 4 days. FWIW, I think my son is very heavily viral, but that maybe having him on LDN helped stave off some of the negatives we might have seen early on in the antiviral process. We have been on the VS for about 4 weeks and I don't see it getting tossed out of the rotation for a while (unfortunately for my pocketbook!). I have dropped the OLE for the moment because of the mouth sores (anyone have an easy OLE to give?), though that is probably the exact opposite of what I should be doing. So, I think it really depends on the child. But Anita is right - take it slow and see how your child responds. Too much too fast of this stuff is not fun. Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Maybe depends on the child and when you get the reaction, but the dosing says to take that into account, staying steady if you get any negatives. And this was different for Anita, myself and Anne, different #, that is. Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 , We dose it three times/day (not optimal, I guess, but what we can manage). We mix 6 VS, 2 Candex (or Candidase, which worked better for us), 1 Colostrum IgG, and some amino acids in a little cup with a top, add some Sambucol and pear juice, shake it well, and pour into one of those medicine things (not syringes) and have him drink it. It usually works out to 2 of those. Our dosing schedule is one hour before each meal. Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 I agree completely with Anne. It will be different for each kid. I should have explained more carefully. My experience was that the antivirals seemed to work a bit exponentially. That is, we were chugging along nicely with a cute little rash and some better focus, a tiny fever and then BOOM. Huge fever, vomiting, etc. I also know that for myself, my discomfort was pretty much invisible. My son is nonverbal, and that's something that gives me pause. I don't want to scare anyone off the antivirals. In fact, my son showed virtually no signs of needing them yet he seems to be a big responder--so my view is that most people should consider trying them. But, with the low and slow in mind. Anne, your son is a real trouper. And you too. I hope you're both through this very soon. Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 I also know > that for myself, my discomfort was pretty much invisible. What was your discomfort like? I keep starting VS and then bailing. I'm kind of telling myself it's too much to keep track of, but I think also I wasn't feeling so hot. Did you get lethargic and cross? Nell Quote
Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Except that says that the VS is something to do for 1-3 months, and I wonder why. Is it because giving the VS enzymes on an empty stomach depletes something? Would doing the VS longer be harmful? [ ] Re: /was:Virastop on an empty stomach Nell, By all accounts it sounds like I have been pretty aggressive on this one. I find it hard to stay where I am and not go up or down, but I think that is what I should do and get on with chelating. I don't know exactly what " getting wiggy " means. Could you give me a hint? I remember you wrote that you stopped when you realized that your son started get upset about 15 minutes after each dose. I assume that is different from " getting wiggy " ? The more I think about it, the more I think that the way to conquer these viruses is to stay on Virastop for, say, 5 or 10 years! That would give the virus a chance to come out from everywhere and get gobbled up by the Virastop. How is that for a working theory! :-) Anne > We have been on the VS for about 4 weeks and I > > don't see it getting tossed out of the rotation for a while > > I did it for at least 3 months the first time. Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Wouldn't you think that the amino acids would interfere with the VS action? Obviously they don't, but I wonder why, also the Colostrum. We give a Super Immune Booster with Colostrum, but away from the Vs, which we give with small amounts of yogurt. On the positive side, she doesn't seem to mind the taste of the VS, at all. Thank goodness for small favors. Do you really have to give 12-20 per day or could 4-5 per day work. Giving a lower number is good, especially in the beginning. Guest guest Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Why should the amino acids interfere? I don't think amino acids are broken down by enzymes. It is the protein that is broken down into amino acids by enzymes, allowing the amino acids to be used to make enzymes and other stuff. Am I wrong? I hadn't thought about the colostrum. That makes sense.
