Guest guest Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 One needs to drink more water when chelating. Is he on enzymes or the gfcf diet? S S We finally were able to see what our son would look like without
stimming for an entire day. We owe it all to constipation! I'd be a
happy dance if I didn't know any better. Guest guest Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 I have seen the same in our son. We dont cheliate yet. His gut was healthy by then . the issue was for us he didnt get enough fiber . We supplemented with that. That helped, no stimming for weeks. Unfortunalty we has a gluten infraction and the the whole stimming came back badly+ diarhea. The leaky gut came right back with the gluten .We are 3 weeks Gluten free , he still stimms a bit but much less already. I hope soon he will get rid of the gluten.Iam so hapopy for you. I cant wait to gvet there again, the stimming drives me nuts.. Guest guest Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 Hi Beti, Sounds to me like it might actually be the chelation that's making the stims go away. The timing of the constipation is sort of a coincidence, more or less: the constipation is probably a temporary side effect of chelation. So the more you chelate, the less you should see stims. In the beginning gut issues wil flare up with chelation and that might make it look like there's a connection between constipation and less stimming. But actually it's continuing improvement from the chelation. If you keep chelating, eventually the gut issues should improve too. I'm an adult chelating myself (no ASD diagnosis, lots of chronic health problems), and I've noticed similar patterns of mental/behavioural improvement and gut-related side-effects due to chelation in myself. Sometimes things happen at the same time, but they are not cause and effect. They just both have the same cause. Guest guest Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Hi Anne, yes his TSH, T3, and T4 were checked many times since he was born. They're normal. Should something else be checked as well? I've thusfar ignored reading about thyroid issues, since they *appeared* to be normal for him. Any specific reason you're asking about them? Guest guest Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Hi , he's well hydrated, I think. He drinks 5 to 6 large bottles of fluids throughout the day. That's why this thing caught me off guard this week. I've increased his fiber, magnesium, Vit C, GSE, and probiotics quite a bit and yesterday and today we got good poops again. Normal BMs with normal texture. But I'm not chelating. Had I been, we'd probably be dealing with constipation again. BUT, with normal poops, the stims are back too!! He's on HNI enzymes (no bromelain etc), but off the diet since February. Beti > > We finally were able to see what our son would look like without
> stimming for an entire day. Guest guest Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Bea, by no means are we done and over with stims. I wish!!! He's pooping normal again, and sure enough, the stims are back. I think because he's relaxed and happy. He's running around, doing Tai Chi- like movements with his hands (he really looks like he's doing Tai Chi, maybe I should enroll him in classes to put them in good use, lol!). Guest guest Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 , I sure hope you're right! Now that we've interrupted chelation and escalated the war against candida and bacteria, he's pooping normally with mucho stims! I hope they go away with chelation. I'd be even happy if I see consistent reduction in them over time. Thusfar, I've only seen reduced to no stims when he had a fever or when he was constipated. I was just wondering if there was perhaps a cause-effect relationship between constipation and low stims, because I saw a pattern from Monday through Thursday. Eiter a) as you said, chelation is helping and the two phenomena just coincide, or they don't feel like stimming when they're physically uncomfortable, or c) there's a physiological connection between the two (which seems to be unlikely?) Thanks, I hope you're right. That's the best-case scenario for all our kiddos. B. > > >We finally were able to see what our son would look like without > >stimming for an entire day. Guest guest Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Dana, the stims are Tai Chi-like movements with hands and visual stims on those movements with eyes (despite prism lenses), humming, and occasional hand flapping. Yes, I'm giving him GSE (which also has anti-viral properties I believe), Virastop (3-4 capsules a day) and there is some OLE in his Yeast Aid capsules from Kirkman. He was on Valtrex for 9 months and nothing happened, so I didn't pursue this route anymore until recently. Should I go even higher up with this stuff? Gosh, there's only so much one can cram into a child's juice <:-) Beti > > But why is it that his stims go down when he's constipated? > > > Depends on the reason behind his stims. Guest guest Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Beti, As soon as I hear the word " constipation " I think thyroid. We have had to deal with this for a while and three docs overlooked the fact that my son was having thyroid issues because the lab gave us adult values and my son was okay by those. Children should have much higher Free T3 than adults. Treating this has made constipation not quite such an issue. That is the only reason I asked. Sorry if it was OT.
