It is a good time to add ALA, but you do have to understand that 10 or 20 or even 50 rounds is probably not enough to completely resolve all issues. If you do 50 rounds and the apraxia hasn't changed AT ALL while the other things got a lot better then you probably do have a secondary cause of it that you'll have to identify. Andy Quote
Guest guest Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 i have heard talk that there is a lead/apraxia connection. some doc was doing studies (dont remember which dr). anyway, my son has been on td dmps (every other day protocol for time being) since 10-05. he is apraxic and babbles a LOT. however, since chelating, he has actually said a few words (!!!). in appropriate context too. now, my son is 9 yrs old and has been taking speech therapy for YEARS. last 2 yrs by a pvt speech pathologist who specializes in apraxia. then, 2.5 hrs of speech at school. so, the therapy plus chelation is what helped. i will say that it wasnt until chelation that he said more words (with just the therapy, he could pronounce a few " p " , " b " words. with chelation added, he can say some hard " c " and " g " sounds). mercury on the brain is definitely not a good thing. blocks pathways, etc. we also use ndf plus with td dmps. vicki shel4336 <shel4336@...> wrote: Does anyone have any theories as to what causes verbal apraxia? Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 , I am approaching the same stage as you. We are going to start chelation (hopefully next week) on my son of age 5. We have heard that all other problems go away but apraxia is the real stubborn one. From the tons of reading & research -- the cause is mercury. You may not have gotten all of it out. Yes, you may need ALA. You may also want to consider the Geier protocal. Have you tested him for high testosterone? Also, it is known that mercury destroys nuerons. Can brain nuerons be revived? Many beleive that Hyperbaric Oxygenation can do just that. However, you need to get all the mercury out first. Good luck. shel4336 <shel4336@...> wrote: Does anyone have any theories as to what causes verbal apraxia? Is it mercury in the brain?? Is it vitamin deficiencies?? Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 It often takes 100 rounds and yes, ALA is necessary to get mercury out of the brain. Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 I did not do any chelation before I did HBOT on my son which was 4 1/2 @ the time & apraxic. He no longer has apraxia. I believe the kids that are apraxic have CBS mutations (see Yasko) Until you get " your " childs methylation cycle working on it's own by supporting those mutations you will be in the same boat. You can not keep them away from ALL toxins. Neurons can be destroyed by many things. The cause for apraxia can be a multitude of things genetics, neurotoxins in our food, viruses, other metals, bacteria, all of them together, etc… As far as getting the mercury out first- I disagree. What I do agree with is getting your child's methylation cycle working first. For SOME children chelation is not the answer to the problem. Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 It is amazing to read how our children are so different. Chelation solved my son's severe oral and verbal apraxia. He lost his dx. It took almost two years of chelation with DMSA/ALA and he was very young. We started chelation right before he turned 2 yo. The main thing that chelation helped my son with is language. He is even bilingual, and learnt his second language on the fly just by hearing us talking. Here are some of my old posts regarding this: /message/92637 /message/93247 /message/131082 and he does not have articulation issues anymore! > > Does anyone have any theories as to what causes verbal apraxia? Guest guest Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 what a great story! i'm so glad that it worked so well for you! do you think the biggest changes came after adding ala? I haven't added ala yet. also, i'm using td-dmps. i wonder if that makes a difference. the doctor we are using things the td-dmps is much safer because it isn't ingested. maybe i should consider the dmsa. what did your child's hair test look like? > > > > Does anyone have any theories as to what causes verbal apraxia? He met 2 out of the 3 counting rules. He also had mercury in the red zone because he was eating some seafood at that time. Aluminium very high, in the red zone too. Arsenic, antimony and some others in the yellow zone. Quote

I have two kids with symptoms that sound similar to apraxia. For #2, it was primarily articulation, he was very difficult to understand. For #3, it was sort of like " whole phrase stuttering " , he would try to say words, his little face would contort for several seconds, then he would finally get the word/phrase out. For both of them, high doses of folic acid eliminated this problem. It also eliminated video scripting and writing letters in the air. And, as an unexpected WONDERFUL benefit, it eliminated LOTS of other problems like hangnails, thick nail bed, and cracks in the skin of the heels, and made their skin soooooooo soft, just like a newborn! I am using it myself and my heels are no longer cracked and my skin is soft again also. Wonderful stuff! Dana Quote
