Guest guest
My son had what his DAN said was the " worse OAT I have ever seen " last year. Among other things it showed a great need for B12 in spite of the fact that we were doing the shots, etc. Not sure exactly what helped but we put him on LOD and added the mito cocktail sups and recently got back a MUCH improved OAT and the B12 issues were resolved. > > My son's ORganic Acid profile came back with the following: > 3-oxoglutaric 2.91 high > 2-oxo-glutaric 5.01 low > pyroglutamic 9.04 low > hippuric 453.89 high > > The DAN doc told me in previous tests that low pyroglutamic means b12 > deficiency. Why? What's the connection? Do you happen to know? My understanding is that pyroglutamate forms in the gamma-glutamyl cycle (the way cells transport amino acids and other " things " across cell membranes, with the help of glutahione or some other gamma-glutamyl containing peptide). Low or high pyrogluatamate has something to do with the level of glutahione in the cell, not with the B12. Low glutahione can cause low or high pyroglutamate, depending on other factors. > What can I give him for the hippuric problem, besides > diflucan. Why do you give diflucan for high hippuric acid? It's my understanding that some bacteria would cause low hippuric acid actually, by deconjugating the hippuric acid in the intestines to benzoic acid and glycine. I think a person that eats lots of carbohydrates will have more hippuric acid. Valentina
