Guest guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 I'm happy you enjoyed the Geiers videos on FAIR Autism Media! BTW, FAIR Autism Media recently hosted a lecture that the Geiers gave in Chicagoland last month. They presented all their data on mercury/testosterone, etc. and used a video projector with a power point presentation, etc. It went very well. I'm currently editing that video and will make it available online in about two more weeks. If you want to receive our newsletter, visit http://www.autismmedia.org/ and click on the button to subscribe to our mailing list. Thanks! Guest guest Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I HAVE A 14 YR OLD AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW AND IF WE COULD BE A PART OF THEIR STUDY. THANKS [ ] New findings regarding autism Dr. Mark Geier and his son, , were in town to testify before the Kansas Senate regarding Kansas Bill Subject No. 537, authored by Senator Hensley. " http://www.kslegislature.org/legsrv- billSubj/searchBillNumber.do;jsessionid=47708B5F42E22CEBF5F8086A532A8 E8F While in town, Dr. Geier and were invited to speak at the Autism Asperger Resource Center. As this was an impromptu visit, they did not have handouts but did have their computer with powerpoint. I frantically wrote and wrote to take notes. Since then, I have found a similar presentation (that they had given in the recent past) online at http://www.autismmedia.org/media4.html You will find it very valuable to go listen to all four segments of this talk They feel they have found a definite link in high levels of testosterone and autism (which are affected by mercury from vaccines). That is simplifying it too much to make that general statement, but it all has to do with a genetic link that prevents normal metabolism of certain enzymes that eventually affect testosterone levels (increasing them). Testosterone binds to mercury and increases levels left in the body. Autistics cannot get rid of mercury in their urine like " normal " people. It's a vicious cycle that makes more sense when you listen to the video. I do have written notes that may fill in some of the gaps that aren't in this video presentation if you would want them. Just let me know. Oral chelating therapy has been used in the past by many (successfully and unsuccessfully because it binds loose mercury but not imbedded mercury), but Dr. Mark Geier recommends an additional treatment to this protocol. He has treated eleven children (ages 4- 9) from November 2004 through February 2005 using Lupron Depot (there is an eligibility assessment for enrollment in the test program). Lupron decreases the body's production of testosterone. Testosterone suppression might increase the efficacy of chelation to remove mercury. MARKED RESULTS HAVE COME ABOUT in the test subjects. Cognitive and sociability have improved dramatically in the children being tested. He presented pictures and school reports of pre- and post- treatment children. One 9 year old student went from nonverbal, flat affect, who couldn't even balance to sit in a swing, who was only able to master a hand full of skills on his school assessment, to becoming a talking, communicative student who has mastered 90% of the skills for his age level at school now, and " asks " to be pushed in the swing. Administering Lupron does not come without its problems. The question arises " What happens to a child receiving Lupron when he/she is supposed to naturally be going through puberty? " Because this study has only gone on for a short time, that question cannot be answered yet in how to handle that. They are currently doing trials on 13 and 14 year olds. Also, the question arises, " When do we stop administering the Lupron, or can we/should we? " It is also costly, about $1500/month but HMO's currently pick up on the cost. On July 7, 1999 the American Academy of Pediatrics and the US Public Health Service issued a joint statement calling for the removal of thimerosal from vaccines, prompted by a risk assessment from the FDA. However, they are working very slowly at acting on this recommendation. Currently, six states have legislation banning vaccines with thimerosal (Missouri, Iowa, California, Delaware, Illinois, and New York). England has banned it since August of 2004. The incidence of new cases of autism in these areas has rapidly decreased. They are suspiciuos that this finding could even have implications with diseases like Alzheimers' where it has been proven in the brains of corpses that they had elevated levels of heavy metals. ======================================================= Quote

Guest guest Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'm wondering if we pass this information to our respective DAN doctors (especially those DANs who are MDs), if they will : 1. Test for high testosterone 2. Prescribe Lupron Depot I've heard & read that Lupron Depot is used for kids who go to puberty too quickly so its known to be safe (to the best of my little knowledge). This is exciting and encouraging. I am about to start chelation for my 5 y.o. boy and its good to know that there is hope beyond pure chelation. Thanks " Autiemom4 " ! Guest guest Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Talk to Andy, he seems to think that there are reasons not to use Lupron. Drs use lots of drugs that aren't necessarily good for people, think about the cholesterol drugs that do lower cholesterol, but cause liver disease in an alarming number of people. Guest guest Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I have two sons with autism. I have tested both of their testosterone levels. They were completely normal. Guest guest Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 My main question with lowering testosterone with lupron is if the benefit of putting off puberty is really that beneficial. It seems to me if the body goes into puberty earlier than what is typical, it's still a natural process and to stop that process might be more harmful than letting it happen earlier. Also, to me, there is something to consider in that it might be a way for the body to try and heal itself. But then again, I'm only coming from more of a philosophical standpoint and have absolutely no medical reasoning, so I could be completely wrong. Guest guest Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Hi Debi; The last video on that link seemed to suggest that puberty onset is much earlier than it used to be, implying that mercury may even be responsible for the " precocious puberty " . My autistic boy is pretty macho if you dig. I don't think it would hurt him any to reduce testosterone a bit, especially as he's not even 4 years old yet. In any case I was looking for more natural methods to lower testosterone. Licorice came up with a lot of hits but it appears to raise blood pressure, which I don't like. Any thoughts? Guest guest Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I considered using Lupron for endometriosis. It is a powerful drug that suppresses pituitary function. It can have horrendous side effects for some adults. I have never heard of its use in children. I considered using it as a treatment for endometriosis, but decided not to. Some people have good results with it. Some people have horrible results. Lupron is given as a " depot " injection, meaning it is a dose that lasts a few months - so once you take the shot, there's no turning back. Look it up on the web. There are plenty of reports of problems. -- > > Dr. Mark Geier and his son, , were in town to testify before > the Kansas Senate regarding Kansas Bill Subject No. 537, authored by > Senator Hensley. Guest guest Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I did use Lupron Depot for my endometriosis for a little over a year. It was the worse year of my life!!!!For a woman with endometriosis it puts the body into menopause and it was like hitting the menopausal brick wall. I would never consider giving it to my son, not in a million years. You put something that powerful in their bodies and there have got to be long term side effects. It is not just boys that are going into puberty early. NT are too, they better start looking at the growth hormones they put into are meat supply. Certainly there must be some natural alternatives to reducing levels of testosterone. Just my two cents. In , " " <sage@...> wrote: > > I considered using Lupron for endometriosis. Guest guest Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 How about all the hormones in the meat? The grass fed stuff is incredibly expensive, at least for us. The milk is loaded with it, though now we don't give it to the ASD kids. Not to mention the hormones from the plastics. It is true that kids are maturing faster, but I don't think some of it is " natural " . It is scary to be messing with the hormones though. M [ ] Re: New findings regarding autism Hi Debi; The last video on that link seemed to suggest that puberty onset is much earlier than it used to be, implying that mercury may even be responsible for the " precocious puberty " . Guest guest Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Mark, I have thoughts on this! My son, autistic, 5y.o. started playing with himself when he was around 2. We thought it was harmless. We asked our pediatrician and he did not seem concerned and told us " some kids just do this " and not to be concerned. The doctor should have told us to test him for " CENTRAL PRECOCIOUS PUBERTY (CPP) " . What a loser! One way to diagnose this is a blood test to determine the level of various hormones in your child's bloodstream (including testosterone). See link below: http://www.toosoon.com/Home.do I have not had this test done but most likely will. Anyway, to answer your question, I do know of a natural way to reduce testosterone levels. You are probably already aware of it ------- methyl B-12 injections. We started methyl B-12 injections in Dec 05. In Feb. 06 he is hardly playing with himself! To be more graphic, he still rubs himself for 10 seconds and gets bored. If you listen to Dr. Grier's first video, he states that all the current successful treatments for autism (chelation, MB12, secretin treatment, growth hormone, Vitiamin A) ultimatley lower testosterone. Dr. Grier claim that methods other than using Lupron are indirect, slower and not as effective. He goes on to suggest that certain autistic patients (ones who have elevated testosterone) should lower testosterone first, then chelate as it will be more effective. Otherwise, the mercury will stay in their body. I am still debating what to do myself. Specifically, how long has Lupron been used? What are the possible side effects? By increasing MB12, will I accomplish what Lupron does -- lowering testosterone and making chelation more effective? Is Dr. Grier right in that Lupron is the most effective way to go? In terms of cost, Lupron is VERY expensive. However, if a child is diagnosed with " CENTRAL PRECOCIOUS PUBERTY (CPP) " , then most insurances DOES cover it. One thing for sure -- I will have my son tested for testosterone levels. The rest I'm not sure. Guest guest Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I've been reading up on this: The condition is called " Central Precocious Puberty (CPP) " . Dr. Giers findings suggest that this will occur in some Autistic kids because mercury traps testosterone. According to data all over the web about Central Precocious Puberty (CPP) -- the condition may lead height issues -- children may become short, grow hair early, mature early which may lead to emotional isues -- kids make fun etc. See link. http://www.toosoon.com/Home.do According to Dr. Grier, the stopping of this for some autistic kids is necessary to more effectivley remove mercury. He uses Lupron-Depot. I am trying to find out how safe that is. Regards. Debi <fightingautism@...> wrote: My main question with lowering testosterone with lupron is if the benefit of putting off puberty is really that beneficial.
