Guest guest
Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but it sounds a little like your doctor is punishing your children for not progressing as fast as he would like. If so, that's just wrong. Your children are not on trial. Your children are not his employees, or his students. HE is the one who is supposed to be providing services to YOU. If you've been seeing him awhile and he has made no effort to investigate whether or not they have mercury issues, I would say that he's the one who has dropped the ball. Have you addressed chelation with him? If you can still do so, and you still trust his advice, you might try giving him one more chance to redeem himself. It would be a very good idea to really read the files of this list first, so that you know what a safe chelation protocol looks like before you see him. A lot of doctor-supervised chelation protocols are shockingly risky. If he suggests challenge tests, large amounts of chelator on a schedule that doesn't keep a steady level in the blood, or IV chelation, you'd be better off with another doctor, or doing this yourself using Andy Cutler's protocol. Blessings right back to you :-) René > > My doctor has put our followups to every 3 months when we were every > 6 weeks. Guest guest
Many on this list are chelating on their own for the very reasons you describe. Doing a DDI hair elements test (which you can do through DLS without a doc) would help determine which chelator would be most useful for your children. ALA chelates mercury and arsenic, DMSA chelates mercury (from body, not brain) and lead. S S My doctor has put our followups to every 3 months when we were every
6 weeks. Guest guest
During our last visit we went over labs for CBC, celiac and thyroid. The only changes we did that day was stopping MB12 shots on the oldest and starting cod liver oil on both kids due to low Vit. A. I guess they are not having enough changes with regards to the MB12 survey I complete each time. Because the doctor commented that I hadn't noticed that much of a change in either child. I guess the doc doesn't think it is working. The 3 yr old is functioning at a 1 and 2 yr old level on the speech and OT tests. The 6 yr old is functioning at a 4 yr old level on the OT and he didn't do good on the speech but I don't have the scores. My 3 yr old still seems to have yeast problems because of what I see behind his ears. Should I not do the ALA with him? Thanks. > > My doctor has put our followups to every 3 months when we were every > > 6 weeks. Guest guest
btm66, Do you think that your supplements are enough? If you are not supplementing enough with MB12, they are not as effective as they should be. MB12 depletes a lot from the body. Mag., selenium, B2, B3, B6, Vit C and Vit E. I would download Dr. N's supplement review form and key in what you are giving your child and it will tell you if you are under and over on the supplements based on your child's weight. We have noticed even more changes for our son when his supplements were up to par. We have been doing this since since January and I am now pleased with the results. Check it out to see. If you need any help with the program... let me know... e-mail me off list jhines @ ptd.net (all together). Jackie--- > During our last visit we went over labs for CBC, celiac and > thyroid. Yes, do the ALA, but increase your yeast protocol. As the metals are removed, it does tend to increase yeast. Dana
Guest guest
I am totally with Rene, if your doctor is going to be like that you are likely better off without him. Many of our kids issues will not resolve themselves without chelation if metals are to blame. I would jump in and show that doctor a thing or two! Almost sounds like he just wants to sit back and collect his office visit fees without doing the real work! My opinion anyway, -who's son has greatly improved with chelation joshisims <joshisims@...> wrote: Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but it sounds a little like your doctor is punishing your children for not progressing as fast as he would like. I had an angry, moody preschooler which led us to HNI enzymes, which led us to a hair test, which led us to chelation per Andy's protocol. The hair test was a wake-up call for me. Then I read both of Andy's books and starting reading this list. I did tell our family practioner that we were going to chelate and I asked for her help in advance, should we run into trouble or need to order some tests. She agreed, and didn't give me any trouble. However, we haven't needed her yet, and she is basically ignorant of hair tests, chelation, etc. I think many people here will agree that things took a turn for the better when they took the research and the direction of their health care into their own hands. Best of luck to you, in Illinois
Guest guest
Let me just say that some of this sound familier to me. Had lots of fillings, breastfed, I was vaccinated in the 70's-90's. Have two kids who show metal symptoms... One on spectrum (male), one not but does fit the description of sensory integration problems(female). After trying all that I too would seriously find another doctor. In my experience he has written your children off as " incurable " by his standards. Have they ever been hair tested to look for metals? I had a doctor like this for myself, he mainly refused to test me for anything and everytime I saw him with my symptoms of ill health, he dismissed me or said I must be depressed and offered me the latest drug. After I approached the possibility of metal poisoning he told me that " as a healthy adult, my body could handle mercury " , I just left and never went back. You are the advocate for your children. If he is not going to help them, then why pay him? > > > > My doctor has put our followups to every 3 months when we were > every > > 6 weeks. Guest guest
Just wanted to add my voice to this: My DAN Dr is also dragging his feet when it comes to chelation. Chelation is the most effective treatment for autism. You need to be in charge of your children -- not your DAN. Yes, start chelation w/o docs blessing. Get the poison out first. The hell with mainstream & DAN doctors. lvchefmel <lvchefmel@...> wrote: I am totally with Rene, if your doctor is going to be like that you are likely better off without him. Guest guest
Another point: Many doctors have bad attitiudes and think like: 1. I don't have time to think outside the box. 2. I don't know anything outside the box. 3. Don't ask me too many questions as I won't give you a straight answer anyway. 4. Accept whatever I tell you because I am a doctor. Aren't I open-minded when it comes to doctors? Jan <queenvavee@...> wrote: Another good point to remember: As far as doctors go, In America we are led to beleive that doctors know everything. Guest guest
It's not clear to me from your post whether you discussed chelation with your kids' doctor. You should not assume that because the doctor has not raised the subject that he/she is opposed to the idea. Before rushing off to do this on your own as some of the other posters have suggested, you should discuss this with your doctor in a non-adversarial way. Make a special appointment if needed.
