Sara,

There are lots of people here chelating, each with their own varying reasons.

So the answer to your question is yes. I'm sure they'll speak up. I personally

can't help you much except to say I am waiting on my DDI hair test kits so I can

get a baseline for my boys. Austin is fine, just struggles with reading

comprehension and this year maybe some attention problems (which I hope are more

discipline than problem) and Hunter is extreme ADHD, my wild child. :-) Both

absolutely were exposed to mercury through vaccinations as well as my amalgam

dental fillings (I was a big time nursing mother, loved it), so I will be

chelating them both. I figure if nothing else, I'll be investing in their

future health, and the bonus in the short term will be my ADHD son's

behavior/emotional improvement. They make each other miserable at every chance,

but can't stand to have the other punished. It gives me a fine hope that one

day they'll be best friends like I am with my brothers and sister.

As you start your journey I'll be right behind you. :-) I'd be happy to

compare notes when it comes time.

[ ] Anyone here chelating, not for autism, but solely

for ADHD

I have two who have toxic levels of mercury (and other things), as

diagnosed using DDI hair sampling & " the counting method " . One fits the

autism profile, and one fits the ADHD profile. ly, I'm more

concerned about that one, and he makes the younger Aspie miserable w/

his bullying and " humor " . Is there anyone out there who is chelating a

child who fits just the ADHD profile? Or do you know of anyone? Or

where I can find anyone?

Thanks,

Sara Olson

Sara,

I'm in the same boat -- both of my boys meet the counting rules and

have been diagnosed with mercury poisoning -- they are twins so they

got the same shots. Right now we are chelating the one with ASD,

though it was recommneded we do both. I can only afford one right

now, so I started with the sicker one who has severe classic autism

and is non-verbal, so I've got a lot of work to do. I was thinking

of just doing the ALA on the ADHD one, but am not sure, I've read

one needs to do DMSA or DMPS (whci is what we're doing) for 3-6

months before using ALA. Can anyone verify?/

BTW, I'm also geting my amalgrams replaced in 2006 so I can chelate

myself.

Diane,

There are some people who use only ALA, myself included. It's the

cheapest chelator, so maybe you could do both that way.

I keep flirting with that -- guess I'm leery of it crossing the

blood brain barrier before getting the metals out of blood? Mabye

this is an unfounded fear? Is it best to do the ALA every 3-4 hours

on a 3/4 schedule? What is the dosage for a 48 lb child. I'd like

to use the TD-ALA -- but see that one must have a script? I have a

DAN appt soon, so I'm going to ask about it.

In 2006, when I get my amalgrams replaced, I plan to use ALA alone,

guess I'm a more willing gunieau pig.

I'm chelating my son and daughter. My son meets just the ADHD profile.

He's definitely the harder nut to crack. He's very hyper, oppositional

and just a lot harder to deal with. He's done 87 rounds of DMSA/ALA

chelation. It's helped him scholastically and he doesn't get in trouble

as much at school. I need help with the extreme oppositional behavior.

It's about to do me in! I'm eager to try virastop and high does OLE

with him. I hopeful that will help with some of his issues. Also, I'm

working on his adrenals. Lots of little things to tweak. His special

education teacher noticed a big change for the better in him after

about a year of chelation. I just get weary dealing with the aggression

and oppositonal behavior towards the family. Rae

I chelated all four of my kids, only one of which has a dx of autism.

The other three have other manifestations of metal toxicity,

including ADD and ADHD.

Hello,

I am no expert, but have read other reports that slight reduction of

the amount of chelator has helped greatly with how they tollerate the

treatment.

My other suggestion is check on supplements and consider that you may

be high/low on some particular item ....

Also, since you have done so many rounds and have good results, why

not take a break from everything for a couple weeks and see if that

helps.

Neil
