Guest guest Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 My son does this too!!! I haven't been able to nail it down exactly but my son does it off and on. I wonder if it isn't yeast. You mention so many good things, are you chelating? That can cause yeast and all kinds of behaviors. If you upped your yeast protocal I wonder if that wouldn't get rid of it. I wondered if anyone else's kid did this. I don't remember seeing it mentioned before but mine used to do it all the time. As we have progressed with biomed I definitely don't see it as often. Other thing I wondered as far as cause is just a stim. For my son these are caused by vitamin/mineral deficiencies in particular b vitamins. A good couple doses and they start going away. Guest guest Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Sorry, no biomedical advice here, but have you tried massaging his head and offering him a firm pillow? Increased stimming seems to be common when children are improving and becoming more aware of their environment. It's seems to be a way for them to deal with the increased stimuli. My guess is that it will pass. Redirecting it, turning it into some silly play, comforting him with a pillow and a massage may help. Hope it does. Guest guest Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I think it may be caused by a headache. My son used to do this when he was first diagnosed. It got worse as we went GFCF for a few days. (I assumed a withdrawel reaction) And it disappeared soon after. You might try magnesium to see if that helps. Poor kid! He's nine and he did it right as I was picking him up from school...kind of held up the line of parents in their cars. LOL Quote
Guest guest Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 What kind of floor? Any surface or only specific kinds? Perhaps he wants the cool feel from uncarpeted floors. If chelating what chelator, dose, and dosing schedule, and when in the chelation schedule does he do this? Do you see this after he has eaten certain things? Next time he does this pay attention to the noises occuring at the time, not just volume, but sources of sounds. One of the kids at a group home where I worked would want staff to massage his head. It turns out he was having (subclinical) seizures. Might want to consider CST (Cranial Sacral Therapy) and see if that makes a difference. Big into functional analysis of problem behavior...I think this falls into the attenuate pain BUT I'm trying to figure out the cause of pain. When it's fleeting, it's more self stimulatory. That's the one that's annoying because he just does it and there are no signs of pain (face, tears, tantrums). It's like he has to do it like he might have to flip a switch 5 times before turning off the light (which we shape, of course). He had been on Gabatril (speaking to your seizure comment) but I wasn't seeing any great improvements. He's no longer on it. He's on PCA-Rx and we're low and thinning out dosage while the order is being shipped (a little is better than none). I did not see this when we were doing the ALA, BTW. Again, very happy kid, can't wait for Friday. Any info on CST is welcomed. Love to hear from other parents. Quote
Guest guest Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Consider switching back to the ALA. Why did you switch to PCA-Rx? I personally wouldn't trust any product that claims it chelates mercury but says it's ok to use it on people who still have mercury amalgam dental fillings. Here's some info on CST http://www.upledger.com/therapies/cst.htm I had it done for a while after a neck injury (kid w/ASD yanked me to the ground when I tried to stop him from running into traffic) and my vision improved considerably (the eye doc retested 4 times because he couldn't believe the change). Did the head-rubbing start after you switched enzymes? For my son, head-rubbing (on me usually) means yeast. Nell Quote

In that case you'd be better off dosing every 3 hrs -- when I tried stetching out the nighttime dose I got terrible, terrible headaches. Nell Quote

I personally wouldn't trust any product that claims it chelates mercury but says it's ok to use it on people who still have mercury amalgam dental fillings. Thanks you for you thoughts. I completely trust the PCA-Rx and have been using it off and on for quite sometime with my entire family but not testing. But when the doc wanted me to use Chelex, I chose to supplement PCA-Rx with ALA. Now, I've started testing. The PCA-Rx test came back clearing more toxins than the DMPS challenge. The baseline (nothing in his system) even had elevated levels but I am making a leap that seretonin (Lexapro) has chelative properties OR he has enough seretonin now to evoke his own melatonin (which is what seretonin becomes) so he is sleeping deeper and getting into a healing stage of level 4 and his body is slowly dumping. But I'm going with Andy on the hair analysis. I need to look at all elements to get a better picture of what the heck we're up against. The mechanism in PCA-Rx is that it wraps around the toxin. You don't get the dropping like you would with a simple ionic bond (one reason it's noted as safe to use with filling -- my hubby has six and we're getting them removed but he's had no adverse side effects using it at all and it has helped with a condition that I think was caused by the amalgams) BUT I do know that it clears metals out in a certain order so that Merc and Alum will be later in the usage...I worry that it will take forever to get to that level with my son because he has chronic exposure to " lower " metals and it's difficult to keep a " clean " environment -- he's a magnet to anything toxic, I think! I'm hoping ALA will help and I'm going to continue my use of PCA-Rx (if it ever gets here). Quote
Guest guest Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I'm thinking you (and others) are right. It can just be head rubbing sans any " bad " behavior, right? > > --- In , " dxat2in98 " <astralweeks1@> > > > I switched from Houston enzymes to the potent enzyme from Kirkman...I > > didn't even think of that but won't I have yeast issue with either > > detoxing and/or enzyme therapy? > > Did the head-rubbing start after you switched enzymes? Guest guest Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 > The mechanism in PCA-Rx is that it wraps around the toxin. The above is a claim that the company makes. I haven't seen any evidence that there is any truth to this. I continue to ask in the adult groups for people to put forward any evidence that they have and so far no one has. I haven't found anything in archives anywhere that would support the company claims. >You don't > get the dropping like you would with a simple ionic bond If this statement was true then I would expect that there would be no side effects from PCA Rx. Poisoned adults in the adult groups report major reproducible side effects even with extremely low doses. I suspect that the chelation ability of PCA Rx is mainly from the lipoic acid it contains. The benefits and risks of using lipoic acid will depend on the dosing schedule, just like using oral ALA. Oral ALA is a lot cheaper. It's easier to determine the dose of oral ALA and keep it consistant. J > > > > > > Consider switching back to the ALA. Guest guest Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 My son use to do this and and did do the rubbing across the floor recently. I also just found out that Jack is having seizures when he sleeps and probably has had them for 6years. We doubled the dose of seizure med and started modified atkins and he is doing great. Saying some words w/in a week. I also think seizure were probably better when we were chelating w/ ALA because all hell broke loose when we stopped chelating over a year ago. nne -- In , " Shepard Salzer " <_Shepard@...> wrote: > > > Consider switching back to the ALA.
