Good Morning

I thought the same thing about how it should be a very rare thing that

we would ever meet anyone in our circles with this diagnosis. I

thought I read that there are only around 20,000 kids even diagnosed

with systemic jra.

Do you think there is any kind of registry that they keep regarding

the demographics, region etc...on kids with this disease?

I don't think so, though I have always thought it would be interesting to

see the demographics. I believe it is called " clusters " , and I think there

was once legislation to look at some childhood diseases and the clustering

of them. It was awhile ago. (n, 15, systemic)

I guess I will mention it to Aundrea's rheumatologist at our next

visit. I really think it has to be highly unlikely to have two kids

with systemic jra and the other with poly jra all of the same block.

Maybe someone else will chime in on how we can find out more about

identifying clusters or demographics of childhood disease.

I meant to ask you how is n doing with the cold. Are you still

holding off on the prednisone?

Aundrea's knee was really warm to the touch and swollen which is quite

unusual for her. I need to stop at the pharmacy and buy one of those

heat wraps. I should definately take out stock in wraps. I have

spent a fortune on them! :-)

n's cold seems to be all gone. It sure was a bad one. She got her

enbrel again today. She is still somewhat fatigued, but every day is

getting better. The rash is improving too. She does have swelling in her

knee and her foot hurts her. We go back to the rheumy in six weeks, so we

will have to see what he adds, and if she gets her knee and foot injected.

Her wrists were acting up with the cold, but they are back to normal now.

We may have dodged the bullet on steroids. I hope so. (n, 15,

systemic)

Ok now, If we're talking coincidences, here in Boise, ID (small

city), just in our small support group of 11 families alone, there

are 4 systemic boys all aged 8 - 10. We discussed environmental

factors, and 2 of us have relocated to here after we were

symptomatic, so it really is just such a strange coincidence. It

blows away the statistics of the disease, but that's the way it goes.

My swelling is beginning to come down too. I had a checkup with my OS today and he is very pleased with my progress so far.

cause my TSH- T3` T4` was high. I will do everything I can. I wanted

to know if there was some one like me, who has gone through like me>?

I'm in a similar boat as your husband. I had mono TWICE in the

eighties and early 90's. Also diagnosed with high blood pressure at

the age of 19 when I was a skinny 120 pounds in the 80's too. (Ends

up I just needed to supplement with magnesium to heal myself).

I have since been diagnosed with Epstein Barr/Chronic Fatigue by a

REGULAR doctor, because of the mono. My EB antibodies are off the

chart..

From what Bee says, Leaky Gut is a myth, and I believe her logic. Do

a search... trust Bee instead of the Naturopath on this one, and have

your husband follow this diet/supplements. That's what I'M gonna

do!!!

Hi SFM,

You can expect to pain free in some cases. I am 98% pain free.

BUT, None of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) achieved this. I

take MTX a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) and that is what allows

me to be pain free.

You are young and possibly considering children, so MTX might not be appropriate

for you right now.

FYI, My MTX dose is in tablet form.

As far as diet, I haven't a clue. I gained about 20lbs during the year or so

that I was immobile and undiagnosed. I have managed to not gain any more, but

losing those 20lbs seems to be momumental even though now I have full mobility

and am much more active than prior to me being affected.

Absolutely. I now say arthritis and nerve pain turns folks into human

barometers. BTW I am from KS too. So just know when you are in pain. There

are a whole lot of KS folks feeling pain too. I worked in a clinic for several

Yesterday I took bus to see the doctor she told me I messed up my sciartic nerve

I wonder,to point I cant move or carry heavy things much more with out hurting

my back.Next week start on thearphy.She prescibe me new med called least is new

to me calledmethyiprednis olone like4 mg one day for 21 days.This morning I can

some what sit at computer.Im tire of pain his morning my left neck woke ealry

with between migraine and stress headache.I had question does any one in group

hurt more when on weather conditon there low pressure or high humidty?Some days

get migraine in low pressure.Glad no classes this week that helps.

I pray on Monday when social security call my husband that this time he will get

disabilty since he has neuorpathy in legs nerve damage.Not sure how much more

this year he can work only work can do is mowing after today might be miserable

for few days after wards/He diabetictype two second time fighting on his

disabilty doctor thinks he should have it to.Anyone in groups has his kind of

pain either.i got some nerve pain in my left arm and degrenrated disc in.

Anyone go through sweet cravings lot.?Im not diabetic but do have low blood

pressure always have since my open heart sugery as kid was born with whole in my

heart.Anyone want pisky gly lol buzzing around driving me nuts lol.Going be hot

humid in ks summer is here for sure.
