American Lung Association Commends Health Commissioner and Legislators

ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Lung Association of

Minnesota (ALAMN) recognized three strong supporters of lung health at the

1999 Annual Meeting and Board of Directors convocation. Senate Majority

Leader Moe and Senator Ember Reichgott Junge received awards for their

outstanding efforts in helping to ensure that adequate funds for youth

smoking prevention and medical research were set aside from the state' s

historic tobacco settlement. Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan

Malcolm was also recognized for providing a wealth of information during the

1999 legislative session and for her instrumental role in the Minnesota

Department of Health' s task of overseeing the distribution of monies from

the tobacco settlement endowments.
