Guest guest
- THANK YOU for posting this message from another board. Very thoughtful of you. Our son has been struggling with tics for the past year and a half. Taking our son off casein a year ago brought a resolution (or so we thought) but then they returned. He's been on enzymes for the past three months along with many other supplements (including epsom salt baths but on a very infrequent basis). We aren't sure whether any of this is helping....since he continues to have tics but at least not as frequently as originally. We'll look into Thiamine. Do you have any idea what thiamine is or do you have any experience with it? Guest guest
I tried the thiamine and magnesium, but started out slowly...200 mgs of each to see how it would affect . She started this really bizarre head and neck stretching and facial tics after only on them for 3 days. I stopped it. I used regular thiamine as my health food store clerk never heard of allithiamine. Would the B vitamin be causing this strange behavior? acts like her head is really hurting her. thiamine and mag for tourettes/tics/ocd > " I recently became friends with a mother who researched a lot for > her son's > Tourette's and OCD and ADD and found out Thiamine works BIG TIME for > tics and > OCD. Guest guest
200 mg of thiamine is 200 times the rda. also b vitamins are a ratio thing. its hard to find good ratio b composites. i take b6 and find that about 3 mg does. b vitmains should be looked against a background of cofactors. > I tried the thiamine and magnesium, but started out slowly...200 mgs of each > to see how it would affect . Vitamin B toxicity usually first manifests as tingling and/or numbness in the hands and feet and other extremities. For some people, it feels like the body is on fire. I would suggest you start with USRDA of this vitamin, then work up to a level that she still tolerates and where you see benefits. Guest guest
Dear Dana, Thank you for clarifying this for me. The initial posting stated that 400mg of Thiamine and 400 mg of magnesium helped to eliminate the Tics associated with Tourettes and OCD's. I was afraid to try that high amount as my daughter is so sensitive to everything, so I halved the amounts. At this point I stopped it in hopes the head, neck and facial cranning will go away. Yesterday, she only had 2 episodes of it in the evening. Well that is good news! Hopefully she will stop that in another day or so, then wait a few days, then start back at an even lower dose [if you want]. For one of my kids, tics means he has a yeast issue, so you can consider that also, if you want http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm Dana
