Guest guest
Why is it my daughter has trouble going to sleep? I think she is in die off stage, but this is similar to the way she has acted in the past too. (Before diet modification; supplements; enzymes). She expresses it as wanting to " rock and roll " but really her body is over tired. Actually I almost think it happens worse when her body is most fatigued. We are on break so it's not so bad, but some school mornings are like torture. I tried epson salt bathes and am not so sure she has a phenol issue. I want to SCREAM at her, (and have...), but surprise surprise that does no good either... What is this from? Or maybe it's just a case of feeling bad, but when I have the flu all I want to do is sleep so not sure. Thanks, Kari

Try reducing phenol foods, and/or No-Fenol enzyme http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm http://www.houstonni.com/ Dana
Guest guest
1/2 mg of melatonin an hour or so prior to bedtime is the only thing that has helped my daughter get to sleep at night. RDA Magnesium also seems to help her sleepwalking issues overall. She used to sleepwalk nightly until recently, but I am seeing improvement gradually. Much less anxiety at night. Guest guest
Kari, I have recently begun giving some Melatonin (spray) before bed. It used to take him at least an hour to fall asleep--this was with giving him epsom salt baths and magnesium. Now, he goes to sleep within 15 minutes. He also seems to be more awake when he gets up in the morning. Robin

Who manufacturers the spray?? > Pam Pam, We still do the baths--almost daily. Today we actually used the epsom salt cream a couple of times--today was not a great day but hopefully just a blip in mostly good days. We find it to be very helpful. I give him the magnesium about once weekly. I think he needs it more often but he really balks about taking it. I need to find the magnesium pills referred to earlier and then i will give it to him daily. Right now we use the Natural Calm which dissolves in liquid. This is a kid who actually will swallow five Perfect Food and five Goatein tablets daily--they are gross. He also really hates the Primal Defense but he will swallow one daily and then i give a Culterelle as well. So, my point is, I put his Natural Calm in lemonade and he still won't drink it without a fight--go figure. The Melatonin has a peppermint flavor and is found at www.vitamist.com. There is alcohol in it and natural fruit juice so if your child is extremely sensitive to phenols, there may be a better product out there for you. does really well with it and he likes it so I will continue using it. Guest guest
Serena, I tried the melatonin tonight and it worked like magic. Kind of felt like I was drugging her, but she is really not feeling well going through die off and all so it was nice to see her at least crash out. Dana you are right then it would be yeast if this is common. But just wondering if anyone knows why? Or maybe it's just one of the side effects that goes with the problem. Thanks, Kari Re: Insomnia/sleeping 1/2 mg of melatonin an hour or so prior to bedtime is the only thing that has helped my daughter get to sleep at night. Guest guest
Seema I have been giving my son Melatonin since he was 7yo (he's now 16) and have never had any problems with it. As a matter of fact I make darned sure to never run out! We use the Source Naturals 2.5mg sublinguals. I started dissolving them in a little water and adding to his juice until one day he came up to me, put his hand out and gave he this look that said " who do you think you're fooling, just give me the pill! " Ever since he just takes it no problem. Guest guest
Seema, everything I know about melatonin indicates it is safe. We use the melatonin spray from www.vitamist.com . there are cheaper ways, as I am finding out. Robin
