Suzan,

Have you had a good look at the use of glyconutrients for ulcerative colitis?

Go to www.glycoinformation.com for information and experiences. We got rid of

my

mother in laws chronic diverticulitis using them and we have read of many

experiences

with all sorts of digestive challenges using them.

We also used them with (10.5 y.o. ASD) and they completely changed his

diet

from being extremely picky to eating just about everything.

Email me directly if you want more info. I have a lot on file.

Plant enzymes and medications such as sulfasalazine

Hi,

My 3-year old son takes enteric-coated sulfasalazine pills for his ulcerative

colitis. He also takes plant enzymes with every meal.

Should I be concerned about having him take the sulfasalazine and enzymes

hours apart? (No gastroenterologist can tell me, 'cause they don't know much

about plant enzymes). I am wondering about the plant enzymes, with their wide

pH spectrum, destroying the enteric coating, and the sulfasalazine not being

deposited in the intestines where it is needed.

Suzan,

Enzymes do not affect the enteric coatings of tablets. These coatings are

usually set off by changes in pH (dissolving in neutral to alkaline pH) and are

not substrates for enzyme activity.
