Guest guest
There's a huge Whole Foods Market in the South of Market/Moscone Center area, at 399 4th Street. My celiac teen daughter can always find something there to take out when we're in the city.If you want to splurge, try Roy's, a Hawaiian "fusion" restaurant, on Mission near Second Street. Tell them about the allergies/intolerances, and they'll make her a memorable, delicious meal. You'll like it too! You're welcome.DebbieOn Nov 2, 2006, at 3:27 PM, eatlaunch wrote:Hi all!I'm visiting San Francisco next week with my wife and our teenagedaughter who has the following food issues:Explicit allergies:WheatEggsSugar BeetsCeliacsTraveling is always a challenge, unfortunately. Guest guest
Check out Café Gratitude in the Mission (they have a website) or in the East Bay (and I think there is another site as well) True it is raw vegan, but we can eat the desserts!! Guest guest
There's a restaurant called Millenium a little closer to 5th and Market which is supposed to be really good. I haven't actually eaten there, but thought I would mention since I've heard such good things. Touted by vegans I think. Have fun in the city. Guest guest
I'm highly sensitive to cross-contamination so I feel pretty comfortable referring you to the restaurants I frequent: Bistro Aix: (not too convenient location-wise for where you're staying) http://www.bistroaix.com Range: (unbelievably good and easy to get to from where you will be) http://www.rangesf.com Delfina: http://www.delfinasf.com Luna Park: http://www.lunaparksf.com/ Poggio: (in Sausalito in case you want to take a spin across the bridge) http://www.poggiotrattoria.com/ On 11/2/06, eatlaunch <eatlaunch@...> wrote: > Hi all! > > I'm visiting San Francisco next week with my wife and our teenage > daughter who has the following food issues: > > Explicit allergies: > Wheat > Eggs > Sugar Beets > > Celiacs > > Traveling is always a challenge, unfortunately. Guest guest
Thanks for the restaurant recommendations from me too! I live in the north bay, what do you usuaully get at Poggio's? Any other recommendations in the north bay? Thanks! Cory
Guest guest
Hi Cory -- I've no other recommendations at this time as I'm not in the North Bay very often. At Poggio I get the rotisserie chicken (and I substitute potato puree but not because of gluten issues -- i just happen to like mashed potatoes) and I also get the halibut. Both are excellent. Be sure to save room for dessert -- the lemon mousse is to die for. So far the wait staff have been very helpful. There's a waiter there, , who remembers me when I come in, and doesn't mind when I go through the whole drill with him every time anyway ) I did call Sushi Ran (supposedly the best sushi in the Bay Area) and the chef said he wasn't comfortable serving me. I think he was nervous about the flour and batter for the tempura maybe. I might try again and if I do manage to do so successfully I'll let the list know. Not exactly North Bay, but one place to avoid is the Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg. It was a comedy of errors there through the whole dinner and in the end I ended up getting glutened with hidden soy sauce anyway. (I knew it tasted too good to be GF...)
