Guest guest
From what I've read Lecithin is suppose to be very good for the brain. My mother used to give it to me when I was a child so it has been around for a long time. I've never read anything negative about it. I personally LOVE the taste of lecithin granules (that's probably not a typical thing. My food tastes may be unusual). I still buy it once in awhile and I like it sprinkled on cereal or mixed in yogurt (for GFCF can mix in goat milk yogurt if that's tolerable). I haven't tried this, but I'd imagine it would be good in peanut butter balls (SCD diet, or a mix of rice flour, peanut butter, honey and lecithin. Yummm!). I had bought a bag of lecithin granules and decided to dump some into some muffins I was making for ds. On the bag it gave recipes so I had assumed that I could bake with it. Only now do I realize that maybe baking the lecithin destroys it in terms of its value as a vitamin. Do you have any insights on that? I was hoping to give ds one of his many supps in a more appealing way, but maybe my idea is a bad one. Anita > We used lecithin or phosphatidylcholine (I just like to spell that word:). It is great for the digestion and wonderful for the liver. We got increased attention and much better, even moods with it. > > __________________________________ - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail. Guest guest
Anne, Yes, that's why I did a lot of double-checking on that one. My own son is GFCFSF, and so many of the great GFCF products & recipes contain lecithin! Now I sometimes even spread liquid lecithin on his GF toast before I add almond butter or honey or add it to a smoothie- no negative reaction. So, generally, for our soy free kids, anything with soy lecithin should be okay? Of course, there will be exceptions...
