Guest guest
Hi! After much procrastinating, I finally went to the Stanford health center to get a referral to the Celiac Clinic. (Convenient, huh? Especially since I'm a student at Stanford..) Anyway, the woman scheduling it through the health center is a bit clueless and she called me this morning saying that she had made me an appointment with Dr. Gray, who she said was " not " a celiac specialist (but doesn't he do all the research with celiac???), and she was insistent that if they didn't have copies of my biopsies that they couldn't schedule me with " the celiac specialist " , which i assume means Gail Pyle. Since I was diagnosed(through biopsy!) at 3, 26 years ago, of course I don't have paperwork of my biopsy stuff. Do I really need to call my mom and get her to see if she has something " proving " my diagnosis? For anyone who has gone to the celiac, what does this appointment MEAN? Lol. Do i need to call the clinic and insist on seeing Gail, or do I have to/ want to get screened by Dr. Gray anyway? Or is he the normal celiac doctor that I should be seeing anyway? I really DON'T need to be diagnosed again, obviously, just want to do the " follow up " stuff that they say is so important. They also scheduled me for 8:30am, which in my book is somewhat like scheduling an appointment for 4am... but then I'm on a freaky grad student schedule and it takes me an hour to get to Stanford. I feel very out of the loop here, which is funny 'cause this was all my idea. Grrr... this is why I avoid going to the doctor!!!
