Guest guest
Re: CBT Hello all. There was a question about whether it is necessary to continually do exposures when you are not symptomatic. I approach it in the following way: Each symptom we tackle, we keep working on until the SUDS or anxiety ratings for the exposures are significantly reduced, e.g., down from a 10 to the 2-4 range. This could take a couple of weeks or longer. If the anxiety level is still at a 5-7, even though that's a good drop from 10, it still means that there is more habituation that needs to happen and exposure is the way to achieve that. I translate habituation as " get used to " for kids- just like when you first get into the pool it feels cold and you want to get out, but if you stay in, your body stops responding to the cold and adjusts (it's not that the water warms up, it's that your brain stops sending out the message YIKES). Of course symptoms can re-emerge even if you get down to a 2 of 3, but then you quickly repeat the best exposures for that symptom to nip it in the bud. Best wishes, Tamar Chansky, Ph.D.

Guest guest
, How wonderful! There's another MGB patient who had a beautiful, healthy baby boy a while back. Her first name is Bonnie, I'm drawing a blank on her last name. You'll have at least two first hand sources of info, and of course, Pat L, the MGB grandma who's daughter Kathy also had MGB and a baby after the MGB. By the way, that baby boy is absolutely adorable and completely healthy too. Best of luck in Chapel Hill 3-6-00 304-

Guest guest
When my son was four and in preschool he saw a therapist three times a week for 20 minutes and an occupational therapist for a half an hour two times a week. Now in first grade he gets speech five times a week for one half an hour and OT twice a week for one hour. This was the same amount of time as last year in kindergarten. Guest guest
Thank you Gretchen, I really appreciate your help. I hope to get more time in therapy for . I am planning on asking for more. needs OT also, however, we live in a small toen and the therapists only come once a month and he would only get about 20min a month. (Not even close to enough time) So I am his physical and occupation therapist. (I do my best anyway) Thanks Again! grtchnwgnmn@... wrote: > When my son was four and in preschool he saw a therapist three times a week > for 20 minutes and an occupational therapist for a half an hour two times a > week. He said the " acid reflux " that achalasia folks suffer from is not acid from the stomach, but rather acid building up around food that is fermenting while resting in the esophagus. So it can feel like acid reflux and/or heartburn, but it's not from the stomach itself. Hope this helps! Havi

Guest guest
I suppose you don't have to read it if it says " Cat " in the subject line right? I have tried to put " OT " in the subject line meaning off topic. I suppose we can keep it down to a low purr though. LOL Re: Digest Number 346 Does anyone who has a cat realize how boring it is to read ,,read,,read,,about everybody's cat if you don't have a cat..Can't the cat talk be done privatly..I am soooo saturated by cat stories I think I may cough up a hair ball!!! Guest guest
I guess that when the title refers to 'CATS' you should skip it if it irritates you so much. We were all being helpful to someone who asked for help. I thought that this site was for support, and not just for lap-band, although I would agree that a majority of it should be. But I myself, have learned alot of things about cats that I did not even know. And had all of the mesagges been pm'd I never would have known. Maybe some of those NON-CAT owners will see that a feline is a great non-judgemental companion to help you through the good & the bad times as well. So I guess what I am saying is....if you read the messages that specifically state 'cat' in them, and you feel like you need to hack up a hairball, then you deserve it! But don't take it out on the few people who had knowledge of cats, and tried to be helpful in here just because you failed to read the message content header. > Does anyone who has a cat realize how boring it is to read ,,read,,read,,about everybody's cat if you don't have a cat..Can't the cat talk be done privatly..I am soooo saturated by cat stories I think I may cough up a hair ball!!! > Date: Tue, 6 Sep 2005 19:46:44 -0700 (PDT) > From: carla pundsack <bighotcatmama@y...> > Subject: Re: Re: Cats for Jody/cat tales > > > I prefer male cats to females too. Guest guest
Sorry Liza--My apologies I think I started that. I did think it funny the last couple of days when this group seemed to move from Lapband to a cat group.. I will try to limit such conversations. Liza tell me about yourself. How long have you had your lapband and where are you in mission to become a lighter person? I don't think I have heard from you before.
