Juat wanted to write a quick note to anyone planning a trip to

Disneyland, California.

We just got back and my family (Mike and I - was pretty

unenthusiastic, but that is a seperate issue) had a great time. We

were able to have a great trip with little stress about food issues.

We stayed at the Residence Inn Suites (on Clementine) and had our own

full equiped kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, micro, etc..) We had

brought our own breakfasts foods to save time and from eating out,

but the hotel also has a full breakfast that is included. I was able

to have the eggs, potatoes and bacon (with no noted ill effects). I

asked the kitchen about the 'dairy, and soy' in the items and they

were somewhat able to answer my questions. I didn't ask about

the 'gluten' since I had feeling that they would not get it. If

staying here you may want to call ahead and ask the front desk to do

some research for you. They were very helpful. It was a nice, clean

place and they had a ($6 a day/unlimited) shuttle to the park). I

would reccomend the Residence Inn as a place to stay.

I was also pleased that all the places we ate at the Disney Park were

accomdating to our dietary needs and allergies. They took my

questions and requests well and no one that we delt with was

flustered, anoid or made you feel like a freak. It did take a little

more time to get a meal, cause it had to be made special in the

kitchen, but they were very helpful. We had talked to Chef Toby of

Carnation Cafe and had gotten a few Disney dinning tips. We had heard

of the kinnikinnick pizza's and buns offered at the park, but did not

feel like having pizza.

My biggest reccomendation is for Tortilla Jo's, that is located in

the new Downtown Disney district. We ate there last night before our

all night trip back home. They have all the GF items marked on the

menu, and they were very accomodating to our dairy and soy requests

too. The food was very good! It looks like this is owned by a

restaurant group called Patina Restaurant Group. They have only one

local restaurant - 's Kitchen in Napa. Maybe at some point they

may open others more local. You can check out Tortilla Jo's at

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/moreMagic/downtownDis

ney/dining/detail?name=TortillaJosDiningPage or the Patina group at

http://www.patinagroup.com/. We had great meal!

Let me know if anyone has any other questions on our Disney

experience.

Go to " Guest Relations at the entrance of the park. tell them your child has

special needs " autism' and cannot wait in long lines. They will issue you a

special pass which you show to attendant at each attraction. You will be

escorted in a different entrance which brings you to a higher area of the line.

(At least this is what I did in Disney world a few years ago,)

hi everyone,

Planning on taking my boy to the park, tomorrow.

I know there have been prior post on how to obtain the special,

" Speedpasses " " Speedpasses " <WBR>, so our kids do not have to

I did a search, but specifically what i was looking for, did not come up.

Can anyone offer advice on this?

How I get this time of pass, what documentation I might need and where

to go exactly?

thanks so much

Dexter

We are going with our niece. Do they give everyone in the party a pass or just

the special needs child and the adult?

Hi!

We took our son to Disney and we got the " speedpasses " , I don't

remember the name of the House BUT right when we bought our tickets I

explained that my child has special needs and they showed me where to

go to get this special ticket & a red sticker they attached to the

stroller to use it as a wheel chair........

We really had THE BEST TIME!!!

good luck and enjoy!!!!!!!!!

When we went to Disneyland in May the pass was good for a party of 6

including the child.

I would highly recommend eating at Taste

Pilots in the California

park. We had hamburgers w/ gf buns, the fries are great, and the salads were

good too.

p.s.,

we’re heading off to Disney/Lego lands tomorrow. In looking for GF

eateries around Legoland, I spotted a letter from PF Changs to a celiac down

there who had gotten glutened. The manager apologized profusely and said

she had even been to the PF Changs in Palo Alto to observe their Gluten Free

procedures…I just had to laugh and imagined (the Mythbusters guy)

drawling, “Well, there’s your problem right there!”

That aside, the description she gave of the procedures sounded quite elaborate;

makes me wonder how so many accidents happen. Is it just the turnover in

staff? Maybe we should contact PF Changs and let them know that so many

celiacs are having problems. It does seem discouraging when a restaurant

makes such an effort to accommodate us and there are still accidents.
