Well, it can take me as long as a week to

react – so it is not just the last thing I ate. And then there is the question

of cross contamination – where was that meal out prepared? On the same

cutting board with the same knife that just made a sandwich? In the kitchen

where they bake stuff? Using soy sauce in some part of it? – even the

marinade for the meat?

It sucks but there you go.

Question

This might sound odd, but you are the only ones who

could answer it

for me.

Is it somehow normal to feel worse before you feel better?

I was feeling fantastic until today. Although I've continued to lose

weight, my headaches are gone and I'm not so exhausted. The severe

bloating is down - I now look like I'm only 2-3 months pregnant

instead of 6+.

I'm very very careful about what I eat, but I had some terrible

stomach cramps and bloating, and excuse me for saying, but sudden

diarrhea. It was in the mid-morning so all I had in my tummy was a

larabar, which I know are safe and I've eaten them many times before.

There wasn't anything new in my diet (in truth, I've been sticking to

the same 6 items day in and day out-with the only exception of SCVCC

yesterday - golf tourney). I checked all ingredients of my dinner last

night, and it was GF. I woke up feeling fine, although very tired.

My Mum seems to think it was all the sun I had yesterday playing golf;

I've had sun poisoning before, but it didn't feel like this. I was

wearing serious sun protection and although my chest and right arm are

a tad bit burned, it's not bad at all.

I appreciate all your help. It's wonderful to have other more

experienced (for lack of a better word) folks around to ask these

embarrassing questions to.

Hugs,

Carla aka Piglet

Carla,My daughter is the celiac in the family and she was diagnosed at 20 mos., so her experience may have been quite different from yours. I do know that after her diagnosis and recovery, her symptoms of gluten poisoning totally changed. She was constipated before diagnosis, but afterwards she got diarrhea precisely 24 hours after accidently ingesting gluten (eating sliced turkey with HVP, chili with Lawry's Seasoned Salt, making a Halloween pasta picture at preschool and probably sticking her thumb in her mouth). Eating out can, alas, be a problem. Make sure you're taking iron, too. She became anemic a year after her diagnosis because, unlike her sisters, her cereals weren't iron fortified. She's also among the 50% of celiacs who don't absorb all the calories or nutrients she takes in. No digestive question is too embarrassing for this group. I hope you feel better soon.DebbieOn Jun 20, 2006, at 11:46 PM, piglet95037 wrote:This might sound odd, but you are the only ones who could answer it for me.Is it somehow normal to feel worse before you feel better?I was feeling fantastic until today.
