Personally, I measure everything I can, but I only count calories once in

a great while. Restaurants are harder, so I eyeball it there, but there's

nothing like having two sets of measuring cups nearby in the kitchen for

making meals.

> 2. Six times a day is so hard..Use to eat once a day...IDEAS

Plan, baby, plan. It may be difficult to get started; most people have

issues with breakfast. But after a few weeks, your body will get hungry

every 2-3 hours like clockwork. Trust me! Just eat SMALL, 6 times a day.

Remember, it doesn't always have to be a sit-down meal. It could be a

shake. or a pouch of tuna and an apple. Think of them more as regular

interval " feedings " .

> 3. What about Beans ? Fiber ?

Beans are a FANTASTIC carb!

And with 6 portions of whole grains, unprocessed foods, and (at LEAST 2

servings of!) veggies, you'll get lots of nice happy fiber!

If you can hit your 10s with it, then it's okay. When it gets too easy,

you'll need to up the weights.

Quads:

- Leg extension. Sit in a chair and pinch the dumbbell between your feet.

Raise your legs to straight, then lower slowly.

- Wall Sits. Find a wall and put your back up against it. Scoot down

until your thighs are about horizontal, like you're sitting in a chair,

only without the chair. Hold for as long as you can!

Hamstrings:

- Leg curl. Lay stomach down on the ground, and pinch the dumbbell

between your feet like in the extensions. Bend knees and try to bring the

weight to your butt, then lower it back down to the floor

- Stiff legged deadlifts: http://www.stumptuous.com/baddl.html (scroll

down to stiff-legged deadlift)

You'll do great ! Hope to see you around more!

Dont mind me maybe this is a stupid question but what's an airwalker?

Is it something like the Tony Gazelle I've seen on tv?

Hiya and welcome to the group and to BFL :)

> 1. Do you count Calories ? Book did not say Or is it just portions ? Do you

eyeball or serious measure

I don't count calories. I don't recommend counting calories. I use portion

sizes and, since I didn't want to fall into the trap of growing portions or

shrinking portions, I measured my hand. So I know what my portion size

is and life is peachy :) 90% of the time I eyeball. It works for me.

> 2. Six times a day is so hard..Use to eat once a day...IDEAS

Do it :) You've got to ask yourself what is important in your life.. once you

get over the initial hassle, it really does become easy :) You'll start to feel

hungry for your meals. :)

> 3. What about Beans ? Fiber ?

Beans are a carb according to BFL. We eat lentils a bit.. yum :) I increase

my fiber intake with Fiber One since I feel better for it. (I keep looking for

unflavoured SF metamucil but I can't seem to find it. Argh!)

2 and 5 pounds are fine to start with :)

Again, I don't know. I really recommend getting a bench. We got ours from

http://www.bodytrends.com and it's an Impex Competitor for around $100. I can't

imagine trying to do BFL without it :/

> 4. I have a Airwalker for Cardio 15minutes for now working up to 20....

Congrats :) It used to be all I could do to finish the 20 minutes.. forget

about the intensity stuff :P I use a bike and I started only being able to go 2

miles. Now I'm up to 6 :) :) You can do it!!

It will take longer than 12 weeks :) But you can do it. It's Body for Life,

not Body for 12 weeks :) DH and I started in January and have just been loving

life. It's a great program :) I started with over 100 pounds to

lose.. and 24 years of bad habits to untrain. But I'm making progress for the

first time in my life :)

I really recommend bonding with yourself and figuring out your goals and

Hi, The liver biopsy is to see how much damage you have to your liver. You can test liver function by blood tests. I hope you have a doctor who is very knowledgeable with auotimmune disease. And I am wondering why he would tell you that you will never work again. I held a 40 hour a week job for many years after being diagnosed with AIH. I now work 100-hour work weeks...( I have two toddlers...LOL) and aside from being tireed a lot, I am handling things just fine. Did they run liver function tests? What makes the doctor think that you may have AIH? Normally you find that you have AIH when your liver levels are elevated. Anyways, sorry that you were given this daignosis, but it is certainly not a death sentence. I have had AIH for 13 years and my most recent biopsy shows very little damage. And be thankful that you found this group. They have helped me so much since I joined....they are all good people. Good luck!

I'm curious...why is this the direct result of negligence of your

employer?

I don't know what your employer had to do with you getting sick, was it stress?&NBS; I know you feel like you will never be able to work again.&NBS; I know, I felt the same way.&NBS; After&NBS;I was diagnosed with AIH I was just thankful they found out what was wrong with me. It's a hard road. But predisone and imuran do wonder's. It will be hard at first, but just stick with what your doctor says, and hopefully you can start feeling better. I didn't think I would ever work again, and after a year and ahalf I'm back full time. I do have my bad days, and my employer knows my situation. Good Luck amarilla33 wrote:a half

HI KHRIS WELCOME TO THE GROUP!! Your right your not alone and people

that don't have the same problems have no clue. How are you doing

today? I have a narrowing of my disks now C4/C5 C5/C6 most prominent.

The narrowing is a result of the microdisectomy which I now know was

not successful in eliminating the pain and problems in the neck and

arm.I am 43 and its been a year since my microdisectomy. I do have

less spasms and contribute some of it to the surgery. I had two ortho

docs suggest Fusion in 2001 but I felt like I had nothing to lose by

opting for laser surgery.)): Now, I hear it was a one in a million

chance it would work, but I was desparate and scared like you too. I

went through the whole recovery pretty much alone..and no help from

the insurance company as far as getting my needs met.

If I opt for Fusion this time things will be different cause I will

not give the go ahead till I know everything is in place and will be

done. Can I ask you what was wrong with your heart??

FOR THE GROUP ALSO...I have a friend (WE WENT THROUGH LASER SURGERY

ABOUT THE SAME TIME AND HELPED EACH OTHER THROUGH THE POST

PART..COMPARED NOTES ALL THE TIME) SHE is having FUSION (had one done

in 1989 too) done on her lower back this Monday and NO BONE GRAFT and

they are using some new ways of doing it...cone shaped disks or

cylinders and a bone morphing protein and some little sponges to

stick in btwn the bone. The bone morphing protein has been approved

by the FDA but don't know when exactly. She also told me about a

Saunder Cervical Home Trac that goes on the floor. The over the door

traction unit is not safe to use since how the heck do they expect

you to put the halter on and hold the weight back without strangling

yourself or falling over??? What a joke!!! Hope some of you others

find these new procedures helpful. I need to talk with as many people

that have had FUSION so please contact me.you can write me at

dimondwaves@... if you want to write privately. Thank you so

much.

Sincerely,

Khris:

Welcome Welcome. I'm facing spinal fusion (L4/L5) and scared to death (and

holding out for the artificial disc). How brave you are. Family support is

wonderful, but you're right, no one knows about dealing with pain

until/unless they've dealt with it. So sorry you're going through this. Has

the pain lessened since surgery? Did the doctor say it would? How long has it

been since your surgery? Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you. Hang in

there.

Hi :

Guess who? Is our favorite doctor doing your friend's back surgery? I know he

mentioned something to me about that new bone growing or morphing something

or other. I hope your friend is ok and that his/her surgery goes well. I have

a bad neck and made the mistake of using one of those home traction thingys

once (the one you put water in and suspend over the door)....BIG MISTAKE. It

still hurts when I think about it. Hope all is well.

Hello , and welcome to the Group.

What, exactly, did the Orthopedic Specialist tell you? Obviously

your pain is a result of your fall. We usually think of CP as a

degenerative condition resulting from a poorly aligned kneecap

(patella), but it has become something of a " catch-all " diagnosis for

doctors who don't know any better.

Is it possible that your patella dislocated when you fell? Or

perhaps you broke off a piece of cartilage?

We need to figure out what is really wrong with you before we can

help you fix it.

Where, exactly, does it hurt? Does it hurt when you are sitting?

Walking? Climbing or descending stairs? Can you put your finger on

the painful spot?

Did the doc take X-rays or an MRI?

Give us some more information and hopefully we'll be able to figure

out what is going on in your knee. In the meantime, take your

doctor's advice and learn all you can about knee anatomy, the

different types of doctors out there and all the different treatment

options you have available.

Take care,

Doug

I do that took. My nose, feet and hands are easily cold...however I

also flush easily and do not tolerate heat that well either. Part of

the prolem is that often hypothyroid people are not sweating so we

don't handle heat well either. After meds I began to sweat again.

It takes a long time to see results...it took me about two year since

I wasn't doing well on synthroid and was on too low a dose. Than

when starting armour thyroid I began very low and slowly worked my

way up. I'm doing good now except that I have yet to lose weight (I

haven't been really trying to be honest so it's at least somewhat my

fault for right now).

WATER THERAPY works great for me. I don't even like to swim a lot,

but if I'm in the pool for maybe 30 minutes and just do different

stretches with my leg, I know it helps out a lot. I don't have much

other advise, because they aren't for sure what's all wrong with me.

God Bless,

Tonia

P.S. The only other thing (answer) I have right now not just for

myself but for everybody is Trust in the Lord with all your heart and

lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge

him he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

You are in the right place for information and support. This si a great

group. I was Dx with Lupus at 21 and they PA was not Dx until about 2 or 3

years again. I too have two boys (7 1/2 and 4), so I can relate there.

Right now I am doing the parent thing alone. You just have to take this a

day at a time and the bad like a grain of salt. We are good listeners and

supporter's in this forum (some more than others). Vent, vent, vent! Maybe

we have some advice and maybe we just can offer prayer and support, but we

all are here for you! Stay strong and keep your spirits up! Let me know if

there is anything I can do, you can E-mail me directly any time!

That reminds me that I have to make myself get back into the pool. I have

> I dont have time to be hurting. What can i do to get

> around better. any advice would be great.

Unfortunately, the PA does not care if we have time or not. It is

important to get exercise - which, of course, is the last thing we

want to do. What we want is to crawl in bed with a heating pad and

get up the next day and feel fine.

My exercise of choice is swimming. I swim every day. BUT I am

fortunate enough to have retired early (couldn't work any longer -

hurt too much) and now live in an " over-55 " RV resort in

Brownsville, Texas. We have heated swimming pools. My class is

mostly just range of motion stuff - not heavy work out stuff. Any

movement helps.

Since you likely don't have access to a heated swimming pool every

day (or even time with a husband and 2 kids), you might try simple

stretching movements in the tub or shower - then work up to

something a bit more rigorous. Forget " no pain, no gain " - the new

motto is " if it hurts, stop! " Do something, but it should not make

you hurt.

I hope your family is supportive and understanding.

Alpha interferons, including PEGASYS (peginterferon alfa-2a), may cause or aggravate fatal or life-threatening neuropsychiatric, autoimmune, ischemic, and infectious disorders. Patients should be monitored closely with periodic clinical and laboratory evaluations. Therapy should be withdrawn in patients with persistently severe or worsening signs or symptoms of these conditions. In many, but not all cases, these disorders resolve after stopping PEGASYS therapy (see CONTRAINDICATIONS, WARNINGS, PRECAUTIONS and ADVERSE EVENTS in complete product information).

Use with Ribavirin. Ribavirin, including COPEGUS™, may cause birth defects and/or death of the fetus. Extreme care must be taken to avoid pregnancy in female patients and in female partners of male patients. Ribavirin causes hemolytic anemia. The anemia associated with ribavirin therapy may result in a worsening of cardiac disease. Ribavirin is genotoxic and mutagenic and should be considered a potential carcinogen (see CONTRAINDICATIONS, WARNINGS, PRECAUTIONS and ADVERSE EVENTS in complete product information).

PEGASYS, peginterferon alfa-2a, alone or in combination with COPEGUS, is indicated for the treatment of adults with chronic hepatitis C virus infection who have compensated liver disease and have not been previously treated with interferon alpha. Patients in whom efficacy was demonstrated included patients with compensated liver disease and histological evidence of cirrhosis (Child-Pugh class A).

PEGASYS is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to PEGASYS or any of its components, autoimmune hepatitis, and decompensated hepatic disease (Child-Pugh class B and C) before or during treatment with PEGASYS. PEGASYS is also contraindicated in neonates and infants because it contains benzyl alcohol. Benzyl alcohol is associated with an increased incidence of neurological and other complications in neonates and infants, which are sometimes fatal. PEGASYS and COPEGUS therapy is additionally contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to COPEGUS or any of its components, in women who are pregnant, men whose female partners are pregnant, and patients with hemoglobinopathies (eg, thalassemia major, sickle-cell anemia).

COPEGUS THERAPY SHOULD NOT BE STARTED UNLESS A REPORT OF A NEGATIVE PREGNANCY TEST HAS BEEN OBTAINED IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO INITIATION OF THERAPY. Women of childbearing potential and men must use two forms of effective contraception during treatment and during the 6 months after treatment has concluded. Routine monthly pregnancy tests must be performed during this time. If pregnancy should occur during treatment or during 6 months post-therapy, the patient must be advised of the significant teratogenic risk of COPEGUS therapy to the fetus. To monitor maternal-fetal outcomes of pregnant women exposed to COPEGUS, the COPEGUS Pregnancy Registry has been established. Physicians and patients are strongly encouraged to register by calling 1-800-526-6367.

The most common adverse events reported for PEGASYS and COPEGUS combination therapy observed in clinical trials (N=451) were fatigue/asthenia (65%), headache (43%), pyrexia (41%), myalgia (40%), irritability/anxiety/nervousness (33%), insomnia (30%), alopecia (28%), neutropenia (27%), nausea/vomiting (25%), rigors (25%), anorexia (24%), injection site reaction (23%), arthralgia (22%), depression (20%), pruritus (19%) and dermatitis (16%).

Serious adverse events included neuropsychiatric disorders (suicidal ideation and suicide attempt), serious and severe bacterial infections (sepsis), bone marrow toxicity (cytopenia and rarely, aplastic anemia), cardiovascular disorders (hypertension, arrhythmias and myocardial infarction), hypersensitivity (including anaphylaxis), endocrine disorders (including thyroid disorders and diabetes mellitus), autoimmune disorders (including psoriasis and lupus), pulmonary disorders (dyspnea, pneumonia, bronchiolitis obliterans, interstitial pneumonitis and sarcoidosis), colitis (ulcerative and hemorrhagic/ischemic colitis), pancreatitis, and ophthalmologic disorders (decrease or loss of vision, retinopathy including macular edema and retinal thrombosis/hemorrhages, optic neuritis and papilledema).

When a lie is published it is called lible. When it is published to various sources over the world wide web, it is not only subject to state, and federal prosecution, but international law as well. I want to thank Ocean Foggy for providng everything my legal counsel requires to pursue leagal action. Fabricating much of your article was a fatal error. The end result of which will be the funding of all future THCHAMP work, without any worries of financial provision for the job. Nothing could be sweeter than having the Pharms and their minions actually paying our way! Thanks, oceans! I am deeply in your debt. What can I do for YOU?

If you just hadn't lied about me in your little diatribe...however flattering it may be to receive all this attetnion. But how can I look such a gift horse in the mouth.... pardon the pun, Pegasys!

Keep up the good work, but fire your fact checker, or whoever does your research. I am registerd as sungodjr, hcvfree, godscent, & jeanine, but karen and ph probably have no apprecition for being assocoated with a scammer like me! Perhaps, you might check posts which include replies from these people, so you won't appear so careless in your research. I have one groups at , which is innactive...and so long forgotten I don't even know how to find it myself!

But everyone who is interested in thinking for themelves is invited to check out the facts for themselves at www.groups.msn.com/hepatitschelp/general.msnw.

Death by Doctoring

Cancer: the good, the bad and the ugly

Ransom

Credence Publications

Every year in the UK, 200,000 people are diagnosed with cancer and 152,500 people die. [1] In the US, the annual death rate for this disease is approximately 547,000. [2] These deaths are recorded as cancer deaths, but how many of these deaths are really attributable to the disease itself? How many deaths should in fact be recorded as ‘death by doctoring’? When we consider that conventional treatment consists almost entirely of radiation, chemotherapy and the long-term application of toxic pharmaceuticals, treatments which are all well known for their life-threatening side-effects, then the question becomes all the more legitimate. On chemotherapy for instance, note the following:

“Most cancer patients in this country die of chemotherapy. Chemotherapy does not eliminate breast, colon, or lung cancers. This fact has been documented for over a decade, yet doctors still use chemotherapy for these tumors.” Levin, MD UCSF The Healing of Cancer, Marcus Books, 1990

The extraordinary evidence to substantiate Levin’s observations plus many other damning statements on conventional cancer treatments are presented for the reader in the following pages. We examine the much-publicised story of UK media personality, the late Diamond, who opted for conventional treatment. What does his story tell us? was known for his critical attitude towards many of the more popular alternative therapies. We look at some aspects of the alternative approach and ask if his criticisms were entirely undeserved. We hear from those within the cancer establishment itself who cite the conventional cut, burn and dissolve techniques as ugly and inhumane and from those who seriously question the amounts of money being invested in conventional cancer today given the depressingly low recovery rate. In the UK alone, £2.8billion a year is spent in the conventional cancer emporium. That’s roughly £6,800,000 a day. US spending on cancer is ten times higher.

We also hear from those who defied conventional wisdom and opted for non-toxic, non-conventional cancer treatments, with remarkable results. And no, we are not talking dolphin or pyramid therapy. From the known range of anti-cancer treatments available, this story focuses on the naturally occurring Vitamin B17, Vitamin C and the supporting role of nutrition. Vitamin B17 in particular has been attracting a great deal of attention recently, despite the concerted efforts of the world-wide cancer establishment to suppress or distort all the positive reporting on this vitamin.

Some may baulk at this accusation. We must realise however, that with global spending on conventional cancer running into the hundreds of billions of pounds and dollars annually, any news of a successful anti-cancer treatment extracted from the simple apricot kernel could do some serious damage to the wealth of the mighty Cancer Inc. In the following pages, we read the testimonies and evidence in support of this charge.

But first, by way of introduction to the subject of ‘death by doctoring’, we travel back a few hundred years, to the bedside of King II, where fourteen of the highest physicians in the land are earnestly ‘reviving’ the king from a stroke.

“Mr Ransom, I share your thoughts and I applaud you for your courage for bringing us ‘Death by Doctoring’. The most dangerous place on planet earth is the hospital - next is the doctor's office - followed closely by the dentist's office.” D Wiewel, Former Chairman, Pharmacological and Biological Treatments Committee, Office of Alternative Medicine (OAM) US National Institutes of Health (NIH)
