It is not you it is the prednisone. Almost everyone gains weight while taking it. Here are some of the things I did while on it:

1. I gave up all breads, fried foods, and most starches.

2. Limited sweets and salts.

3. Ate lots of fruits and vegies- snacked on carrots, celery, etc.

4. Tried to eat 12 small meals a day ( 100- 150 calories) instead of 3 big meals. If you are eating every hour you are not so hungry- just keep it small.

Last, it is really really hard to do this but so worth it if you can. It will keep you from getting all the extra diseases that go with weight gain- diabetes, gall bladder problems, gerd, etc.
