Guest guest Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Prevacid is another drug like Prilosec or Nexium or Aciphex (sp?) for suppressing the formation of stomach acid (called a proton pump inhibitor) in the treatment of Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). Guest guest Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 When I had killer pains, throwing up, etc., and an ultrasound revealed no stones (although I was only laying down), I was sure it was an ulcer. My PCP believed it was gastritis, put me on Prilosec, and I was fine for 2 weeks. Then the pain returned, much milder than before, but there, nonetheless. I asked to try Nexium because so many people on here seemed to do well with it.
