Welcome to the group Sam,

Congratulations on getting your surgery date. It looks like you will

have plenty of time to prepare for your surgery which is great.

I had a Lefort 3-piece on June 28th. The peak of the swelling was

between day 3 & 5 post-op. After that the swelling started

decreasing a little each day. At a little over 4 weeks post op, I

still have a little swelling in my upper lips and cheeks. Which

really is not that bad. I really had no bruising which was nice. I

did not have a splint or bands post op and was able to talk right

away. I am still on a soft food diet and will be for at least

another 4 to 6 weeks because I will be banded in a week or two. The

surgery is really not as bad as you are thinking it is going to be.

I am still a little numb in the cheeks, upper lip, and nose which

helps with decreasing the pain.

I had to laugh when you said you feel like a duck because all my life

I have always been told that I look like a duck with the way my mouth

was shaped. I guess I could of been told I looked like a lot worse..

(haha)..Now I am told post op that I look like a smurf. So I went

from a duck to a smurf..I wonder if that's an improvement?...(haha)

Best of luck to ya,
