My expander is at it's maximum (12 mm) and I went to my surgeon today and he said I'd probably have braces by early Januauy. Well I'm excited because I'm getting closer to my better teeth/smile, but not excited with what I have to go through. Well, lots of people have had this done and I know I can ask you just about anything. Pam, I don't know how big your gap was between your front teeth (well I know you said it was 8 mm), but mine isn't really that big. I guess I was expecting the gap to be a tooth-width or something, but it's not. It's almost half a tooth-width. The reason my gap really isn't that big is because my back teeth are widening more than my front teeth. I'm a little self-conscience of my smile because of the small gap, but then again I always have been, even before I had all this done. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories with me (and the rest of us). If anyone wants to know anything about having an expander, feel free to ask me!
