Hi Jayne,

I've always had a problem with hypoglycemia, but luckily the doctors caught

it as an infant, so my parents were hyper vigilant about it and it was pretty

much under control throughout my childhood.

I did not have reflux as a child, but I was put on Prevacid last year because

I've developed it as I've gotten older. It could be from RSS, but my doctors

and I tend to think it probably has more to do with the stress of law school

and genetics (EVERYONE in my dad's family has GERD) than RSS.

I have always, always been an extremely picky eater and I've never eaten a

lot in one sitting, but I tend to be a " grazer " and eat frequent, small meals

throughout the day. I was this way as a kid, and the trend has defninitely

continued into adulthood. I don't ever really remember being hungry as a kid,

but eating a little bit at a time makes the thought of eating more appealing

and more manageable if you don't really have an appetite. My parents had a

low shelf in the pantry where they kept all of the foods that I liked, and I

had access to those whenever I wanted. It's amazing how quickly the calories

from a handful of things here and there, a graham cracker here and there, a few

raisins, a few nuts, etc. can add up. That being said, I was always pretty

thin as a kid. I was so happy when I hit puberty, because I put on some much

needed weight. I'm still probably a little on the thin side, but nowhere near

as thin as I was as a kid. I'm not sure if this is

true for other RSS adults as well, but I tend to have a really hard time

keeping weight on when I'm stressed. While I'm enjoying law school, it's a

highly competitive and very demanding environment, and I've had to struggle

more to keep the weight on since I started classes in June. It's ok, though,

because that means I get lots of tasty protein shakes :).
