Hi all,

I've been reading this list for a few months now, and I can finally

post to it! I had open RNY on Feb 12, 2003, with Dr. Gastwirt at

Faulkner Hospital in Boston.

So far I've lost 100lbs, but have come to a screeching halt recently.

I only have about 40-50 more lbs to lose, and I will get there

eventually! I'd just like say thank you to everyone on this list!

The information that I have found here has been wonderful. I belong

to many different OSSG lists, but this one seems to be the best. I've

had so many questions answered, by reading this list, its an

invaluable resource.

I've been incredibly lucky! Except for my initial surgery, which took

6 hours and I was in the hospital for 8 days because they were

worried about complications. I haven't had any real problems. The

only time I have vomited was when I was stupid and swallowed

something I shouldn't have. Everything physically has been great!

Mentally however, I have been having a lot of issues, dealing with

the " new " me, getting attention from people who used to ignore me,

getting angry with people who are just being nice and thinking " why

weren't you like this before my surgery? " I've also been dealing with

the trauma of not having my weight to hide behind, it was easy to

avoid getting into a relationship, and if I tried and got rejected, I

could just say it was because I was fat. It's so scary now!

All right, I'm gonna stop with the therapy session now! LOL Thanks

for listening and thanks for being here! I don't know what I would do

without groups like this to show me that I'm not alone in my

thoughts, problems and concerns!
