Hello from New Grad!

Hello,

My name is Beverly and I live in Knoxville, TN. My surgery was LAP RNY on

12/16/02 with Dr. in City, TN. I am a distal.

My starting weight was 306 and I now weigh 179. My surgeons goal for me is

139 but I don't think I will get that far. I honestly don't think that I

WANT to be that small. At 5'4 " I'm in a sz 10/12 now. I'm 45 yrs old and

don't have a desire to be a size 6 or 8. I think a good solid 10 will be a

happy place for my body. Plus my thighs have LOTS of extra skin and I don't

think they will ever get into a 6 or 8.

My TT has been approved by my insurance company and will be scheduled for

sometime in the spring. I also need something done to my bottom but that

was not approved by the ins co. I am appealing that decision. My bottom is

actually concave! It is beyond flat and actually dips in. This causes major

sore spots and lots of numbness in my sitter and legs if I sit for more than

5-10 minutes at a time. My bottom feels like it has stone bruises on it. My

hip bones feel like they are trying to come out thru my skin. If any of you

have any good wording or letters concerning this issue that I could use for

my appeal PLEASE send them to me! I'm not great with words and I certainly

am not in the medical profession so this appeal is going to be hard for me.

My PS says this type of surgery is almost always denied the first request

and that an appeal is almost always needed. Wish me luck! He also wants me

to have the extra skin on my thighs (he says about 12-15 lbs!)removed but

that was also denied. He wants me to appeal this also. I will appeal it but

I honestly don't hold much hope for the thighs.

This is probably more info than any of you wanted to read!
