sleeping issues from treating hypoglycemia

Hey there

wondering if you have any tricks from having to wake your child up to eat.

We put True to bed at 7p, right after eating. We wake him at 10p, 1a, 4a,

and then he wakes himself to eat at 7a.

Last night after the 10p feeding he didn't go back to sleep until 2:30a.

Then we had to turn around and wake him at 4a. He slept until 6:15 and hasn't

been back down! I just don't know how he is going to get the rest we need

when he is woken up every three hours. He is sleeping more at nap times but

then he misses good development time. Are there any tricks we are missing?

thanks a ton!

Deb - may I ask why you are waking him up every three hours? Did a

physician suggest this? If it is because of hypoglycemia I

understand - but, sometimes they can go every four hours - which

would make it easier on you. Are you testing blood sugars at that

time too? If it were me and blood sugars seemed stable for certain

lengths of time, I would try to lengthen the sleeping time if

possible. What has your physician said and are you seeing an Endo?

Sorry - I can't remember if you previously mentioned this.

Deb - my endo has recently given me a prescription for certain blood

draws if Ian's blood sugars drops below 60. I carry it in my wallet

at all times just in case. My endo believes that bouts of

hypoglycemia can occur when there are actually issues with

GHormone. I'm sure he has been tested for GH and if he's anything

like Ian - it usually comes up fine.....but, he was always tested

during periods of time when he wasn't having hypoglycemia issues.

Anyway, I would be happy to share those blood draws with you if you

e-mail me privately. I don't feel it would be appropriate to list

it here as it is direct from a physician. Just a thought.
