I cannot keep her from it - she will climb to the top of my cupboards to get it. She will literally eat a whole salt shaker if I don't stop her. I remember reading something on this board about mercury toxicity & salt cravings but I cannot recall what it was about & my searches are futile. Does anyone have any input? =======================================================
Guest guest
I remember (I don't know whether entirely accurately) that Andy has often said to let children have the salt and that it might be important in case of adrenal problems. Guest guest
So I *think " Andy suggests trying adrenal cortex to help with this...........is there any problem in adding this and then stopping it later, or would this be an on-going supplement. My son really dumps not only salt but pepper and many other seasonings on this food. Still trying to figure it out...
Guest guest
check out www.lymephotos.com especially checkout the Vit C AND pure NaCl therapy discussion. FWIW, my grandma used to say Sun and Salt will cure anything. Of course she lived until well into her eighties by avoiding being poisoned by vaccines. .... Guest guest
there is a thread at the autism and enzyme group today about salt. This is what I wrote: With my son he was not looking for the salt so much as the iodine that was in it...Iodine is very important for the Thyroid to function right and is blocked by fluoride so as you child gets older and starts to use toothpaste this could trigger the start of this problem?????? ( in my notes you could read the thread at the group ABMD # 32856, 32497 and 29446) lots of parents give there children epsom salt baths to help with sultate problems in are children?????? http://www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm so salt would draw water to it or take it away from the cells in the body and I have read papers on how mice would die when not give salt - so here is the question what is really going on? and why? My son was a salt craver and still is some days Kelp and the home self test with iodine tincture helped me determine what was going on.- he is still very alkaline with yellow stool for the most part even though I supplement in ox bile and B. bifidum to help with this... so really I don't have it all figured out yet myself... I hope this can point you to the answers... My 2 Cents Ann
Guest guest
What's the connection between salt craving and alkaline/yellow stool? My son has all three of these. Guest guest
My opinion is that the true salt you find in nature like Celtic Sea Salt has a lot of minerals and nutrients everyone needs not just Iodine. We do need salt to produce Hydrochloric acid to process our food better so our intestines can absorb the nutrients since our kids have gastrointestinal problems I notice my son was not producing enough of this stomach acid because his stools shows a lot of undigested food I did not give him enzymes because what I read about them, now that I give him this salt the food seams to process better I don't see more undigested food in his stools. He craved salty things also they crave I believe because mineral deficiency, Salt before being process has a lot of minerals like I said before that our tap water and bottle waters don't have, soon I start giving him Celtic Sea Salt his appetite start getting better and better as well his bowel movements. Also refine salt goes thru a process everyone should know, it is so full of chemicals including bleach. I read Iodine and fluoride are really bad if they are not together with other minerals that in nature they are always together, check Dr. Jordan Rubin's Book " Repairing your digestive health " it help my son, now he is 95% recuperated from his gut problems > > With my son he was not looking for the salt so much as the > iodine that was in it...Iodine is very important for the Thyroid to > function right and is blocked by fluoride so as you child gets older > and starts to use toothpaste this could trigger the start of this > problem?????? Guest guest
Hello, really good points - at on time I even thought salt was retarding yeast in my sons gut also....
Guest guest
Let her have the salt, but make sure it is sea salt, not table salt. It is a good multi-mineral as well as a source of sodium. Also, salt her food and she will probably be less picky. Pepper and most seasonings are high phenol, as well as having other issues. My son did not tolerate seasonings until the end of chelation.
