Guest guest
I just wanted to let you know, if you didn't know yet, that Mcs has recently changed their ingredient lists on their web page to indicate that their french fries now contain gluten. (If you go there you may have to refresh your browser several times to get the latest list to show up.) Posted February 3, 2006 on the McD's site: French Fries: Potatoes, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, natural flavor (beef, wheat and dairy sources), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (to preserve natural color). Breading set in vegetable oil. Cooked in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils (may contain partially hydrogenated soybean oil and/or partially hydrogenated corn oil and/or partially hydrogenated canola oil and/or cottonseed oil and/or sunflower oil and/or corn oil). Contains wheat and milk ingredients. Many people are upset about this, including myself. We have been writing letters protesting the change. However, as an alternative, I contacted In-N-Out Burger, which is available in Ca, Az. and Nevada, and got the following email. In response to your question, our french fries do not contain any glutens and we cook them in cottonseed oil. We do not cook anything else in the oil we cook the french fries in. If you have any other questions, please feel free to call us at our toll-free Customer Service line: (800) 786-1000. Our representatives are available 7 days a week to assist you. Thanks again for taking the time to contact us. Sincerely, Colene Customer Service Representative Burger King also has fries which are listed as gluten free, but there are considerable concerns for contamination as many people have had the experience of finding onion rings in with their fries, perhaps because they share tongs.
