FYI….

Dear Participants of the call on “Reaching Out to

Immigrants in an Anti-Immigrant Climate,”

Thank

you so much for joining us last Thursday for this important call. We hope you

found the information shared by our panelists valuable in your efforts to reach

out to immigrants during this turbulent time. Panelists covered a number of

topics and provided useful strategies that outreach staff can use to build

trust and address fear in immigrant communities. Just as a reminder, a

recording of the call as well as notes from the call are available on our

website. Please click on the following link to access the call recording or

notes from the call: http://www.outreach-partners.org/index.php?cat=outreach & subcat=peertopeerconferencecalls#Listen

As follow-up to the call, I am sending the subsequent

resources that our panelists introduced during the call:

·

Immigrants Rights Card: This is a resource

for immigrants to keep in their wallets or purses. It provides tips for what to

do if one is detained by police or immigration officials. http://www.aclu-nj.org/downloads/071806KYRImmigrantCard.pdf

·

Mexican Consulate Flyer (in Spanish) Regarding SB1070: This flyer was put

together by the Mexican Consulate and includes a summary of the recent law

enacted in the state of Arizona re: the criminalization of undocumented

immigrants. The flyer contains information on how immigrants can protect their

rights. Please see attached document.

·

Illinois Coalition of Immigrant and Refugee Rights

(ICIRR) Fact Sheets: The Immigrant Family Resource Program at

ICIRR has put together some informational fact sheets which can help determine

immigrant eligibility for public benefits and services offered through the

Illinois Department of Human Services. ICIRR has translated these fact sheets

into nine different languages. To access the fact sheets, please click here: http://icirr.org/en/fact.sheets

·

South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center: This organization

has a wealth of resource on immigration, including fact sheets on notarios,

public charge, nuts and bolts of immigration reform and more. For more

information, please click on the links below.

o

Immigrant Resource Manual: http://www.scjustice.org/Brochures%20for%20Web%202009/Immigration/Immigrant%20Resource%20Guide%20mk%20final.pdf

o

Immigrant Fact Sheets: http://www.scjustice.org/immigration.html

Lastly, if you’ve not done so already, we encourage

you to please complete the evaluation survey for this call. HOP values your

input and will use the information gathered from the survey to improve future

HOP peer-to-peer conference calls. You should have received a Survey Monkey

link on June 3rd and then again on June 8th. If you did

not receive this link, please let us know.

Thank you for your time and interest in improving outreach

to our immigrant communities.

Kind regards,
