SPLC wins

settlement against Del Monte

for migrant workers

The SPLC has won a confidential settlement

for guestworkers and migrant farmworkers in a lawsuit against food

giant Del Monte Fresh Produce (Southeast), Inc. The suit alleged that

subsidiaries of Del Monte consistently underpaid workers. The defendants

did not admit liability and additional details cannot be released under

terms of the settlement, but the parties are satisfied with the

resolution of the case. This lawsuit, along with others SPLC has fought,

sends a clear message that migrant workers have rights and their employers

will be held accountable.
