I'm on the bc shot right now, and my surgeon said I may have to quit it, as

it can actually cause plateaus and weight gain. My best friend (who

s on this list too) is on the pill. She just had to stop it before surgery

for awhile because of the risk of blood clots. She's back on it now, and no

one ever told her that it wouldn't work anymore.

As for meds afterward, I take 2 OneADay carbsmart vitamins a day (cut in

half) and a sublingual b12 tablet. No one suggested getting shots, lol. Pain

meds, my surgeon says I can take any kind of tylenol, not just liquid. All

pills are supposed to be the size of a plain M & M or smaller. That's why I

have to cut my vitamins in half. I've never had any problems taking pills. I

had to have darvocet after my surgery (not surgery related) and it was fine

as long as I took half of one, then waited about 5 minutes before taking the

other half.

It all depends on what your surgeon says. There is lots of different advice

out there, and the best route is to always ask your surgeon if you are not

sure.

-- A few questions

I have read somewhere that once you have the surgery that " the pill "

won't work. That it is best to use the patch or injection, etc. I

am taking bc pills and wonder if this is something that I will have

to change once I have surgery.

I was also wondering what kind of meds I will be on once I have

surgery. I know that I will have to use Flinstones vit. and have a B-

12 shot each month. But what about pain meds after surgery. It

would have to be liquid, right? I am a pharmacy tech and I know that

there are several pain meds that come in liquid form. I guess what

my question is, is will I have to use liquids forever now for like a

headache? I know that tylenol has an adult strenght liquid.
