Please help to spread the word about this new source of funding for migrant health.

-----------------------------

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has announced the availability of up to $250 million in grants for New Access Points for the delivery of primary health care services for underserved and vulnerable populations under

the Health Center Program. The funds were made available by the Affordable Care Act. HRSA is specifically targeting funds intended to provide health care to migrant and seasonal farmworkers. Please forward this message to any organization that might be interested

in providing such services in your area or in an area you feel is currently underserved.

A new access point is a new site or expansion of a current site that provides comprehensive primary and preventive health care services (such as a migrant health center). Organizations eligible to compete include public or nonprofit private

entities, including tribal, faith-based and community-based organizations. Current HRSA grantees may apply, as well as organizations applying for the first time.

For more information about the application and funding eligibility, go to

http://www.hrsa.gov/grants/index.html. Scroll down to “Primary Health Care/Health Centers Open Opportunities,” then go to “HRSA-11-017

New Access Points”. Applications are due November 11, 2010.

Organizations interested in submitting applications can receive technical assistance from the Farmworker Health Network (FHN). The FHN is comprised of six NGOs funded through the US Department of Health and Human Services

to provide training and technical assistance to current and potential Migrant Health Centers. The members of the FHN are: Farmworker Justice, Health Outreach Partners, Migrant Clinicians Network, Migrant Health Promotion, National Association of Community

Health Centers, and National Center for Farmworker Health. Contact information for each of the FHN member organizations is below.

Feel free to contact me or any of the individuals listed below if you have any questions about this funding opportunity.

Sincerely,

Virginia Ruiz
