Cranial Tech designs their bands specifically to the baby's head shape with the

idea that they have as much open space on top as possible, for breathability

(basically they cut out the unnecessary extra plastic that serves no purpose).

Maysa's bands (and all CT bands) were designed to first treat her plagio (which

you can see in her photos on the left of the blog, it had different caps to act

as holding points), though it was also treating her brachy simultaneously, and

the second was designed primarily to treat her brachy. Most (if not all) of CT's

brachy only bands look like Maysa's. (Their scapho bands have the most coverage,

they look more like a football helmet because the holding points are needed all

along the top and down the back, but there's space on the sides to promote

growth).

Other companies that make custom-fitted bands/helmets should create theirs in

the same fashion, it's just that most of them are more closed up top (with

either a small circle opening, or no opening at all). What's important is that

on the inside, they are fitted where they need to be (to restrict further

growth), and open/have space between the head and the foam where they need to be

(to allow for more growth). If yours was made for brachy, it should fit

flush/tight against the forehead and sides and have open space across the back.

has improved to 4mm (3%). But his Cephalic ratio is still 87% (down from 90.5%).

It did not change in the last 2 weeks. Our orthotist said she would like it to

be between 80-83%. This seems like so far away. We have another appt in 2 weeks,

I hope it improves some by then. He looks great and we are happy with our

results. Anyone else have a Cephalic index that was slow to increase?
