Hey Gunn,

As we discussed at the last Mt Sinai meeting I make exercise an integral part

of my weight loss program. Granted, I was always exercising prior to WLS.

I exercise 4-6 days a week for an hour or so. I know for me that it has

definitely enhanced my weight loss. In the eight months since my surgery I

have not experienced any kind of plateau. In that eight months I have lost

approx. 135 pounds. The weight loss has been consistent and regular.

The biggest benefit is that after I'm done I feel great.

Remember, exercise comes in many forms. Get on a treadmill for a little while

and work up from there. Or walk outside. I know for me the one thing I do to

make it more exciting and less of a chore is to listen to music when I work

out.

Hope this helps.

And as always, your mileage may vary!

a,

I think a lot has to do with your age, how much excess skin you have,

and your genetics.

I had a major weight loss of 130 pounds when I was 35. I remember

looking at my poor wrinkled bumm, saggy arms and tube sock boobs and

being depressed as heck. I elected at that time to have plastic

surgery on my arms and boobs. I figured the bumm and thighs were a

lost cause. I had the surgery two years after maintaining the weight

loss, working out two hours a day, seven days a week.

I have to say, to this day, I dont have a wrinkle on my face at 46

years of age...(Bless my mother for that inheritance) but my body

just couldn't spring back as I think I had worn out the elasticity of

my skin. I must point out that there wasn't one flaw that clothes

didn't hide, and I was happily a size 10!

If you are younger, you will have more elasticity in your skin, and

working out does indeed help. Consider your skin to be a rubber

band. How far have you stretched it. That will also be a determining

factor. Just remember all the physical things we will be able to do,

how wonderful our health will be, and the rest just becomes one of

those...darn, I wasn't born blonde, rich and beautiful thing!

Hugs,

theresa

Steve,

The use of skin for various household purposes long predates the

nazis. I have seen " skin " shades made in the 1920s.

I'm very sorry if my humor evoked the image of the horrors of the

most horrific intentional human destruction of the past century.

Has anyone lost the weight without a special exercise plan? You know just

going to work everyday and doing your shopping and stuff. Not jumping on a

treadmill or using machines. Taking the relaxed approach, lol

Not that I recommend it if you want to achieve maximum weight loss, but I

have " just lived " since having surgery. A couple of times I tried to get a

routine going to get to the gym, but it has never worked out. I was thinking

about this the other day. It would be good to get weight training in to

prevent osteoperosis, and I probably will some day. I also think it is good

for overall health to get the cardio in at least 3 times a week. So

excercise is important for better health, but in my case I lost weight

without it. That is the wonderful thing about the DS, dieting, losing

weight, excercising doesn't have to be your whole like in order for it to

work. So I recommend excercise, but can be successful without.

I've lost 81 lbs so far and have yet to do anything. I've not even been

walking except to get where I'm going. I am in the process of finding a gym

to join as I want to help shape my body more and see if it helps lose more

inches!!

I just went to check oneout here last week and decided to forget it. The one

here is barely got room for 10 people and while that can be nice, I don't

want to hang out for 2 hours waiting for the equipment. I am thinking of

joining either World Gym or Bellingham Athletic Club. The club has tanning,

equipment, pool etc. I think it would be fun and my son could go swimming on

the weekends when I'm there.

Well my plateau was for a week, about 7 days that I was going up and down the

same four pounds. First time thats happened although I only recently started

weighing daily..I used to go every 2 weeks. Then on the 10th I dropped a

couple lbs and then today another .....I think I'm losing slow..LOL I guess

we all get caught up in the euphoria from the rapid losses! I ate more fat

the past few days and I think that helped me speed things up..!!!

It is usually $69 to join. They will tell you $149 (ask for the discount)

and $29 per month plus tax. They can do a direct debit from your checking

account and then you can use any Curves, even on vacation and such.

So, what's everyone doing for exercise? how long?

how often? is anyone not exercising and maintaining

or continuing to lose? Trying to jog is getting

discouraging. I can't last long on the eliptical,

either. Did the stairmaster thingy yesterday, that

went pretty well.

C'mon everyone, share your exercise routines. I need

inspiration.

Thanks,

Laurie
