Exposure to mercury many years ago, go with ALA instead of DMSA?

Hi,

I've had no amalmgam fillings. I'm ~30 years old. My father was a

dentist. My mother was a dentist assistant (working closely with

amalgam) before, during and after her pregnancy with me (e.g., while

breast feeding me). She also had a lot of amalgam fillings during this

period.

I've also worked as a cleaner at my fathers dental practice for

several years in my teens. In fact, my intestinal problems came in

this period as well. Perhaps due to some exposure during my work as a

cleaner (even though I did not handle amalgam directly) combined with

some hightened sensitivity to mercury from my fetal development. I'm

speculating...

Question: since any exposure I've had to mercury would have been in my

teens, would it perhaps be wise to try to focus on ALA chelation since

my stores are probably " deep " , instead of DMSA chelation?

As a side note: when my Crohn's flares up, it actually helps to do

some chelation with ALA! The last few times when I've felt a " flare "

coming along I've started a round (~50 mg ALA every 3rd hour), only to

see the flare diminish within a couple of days. I know from experience

that these flares typically last much longer and become much worse if

I do nothing.

A second side note: I actually don't KNOW that my health problems stem

from mercury. Maybe the root cause is some other metal. Or something

completely different! I guess I should have a hair test done to shed

some light on this...

Regards,

Finkle
