allergy shots -- good or bad?

Hi,Has anyone had good or bad experience with allergy shots (preservative free ones)? Our Dr. thinks it is a good idea to have the skin pricks/allergy shots since my kids issues seem to mostly be autoimmune. Any thoughts on this?Many thanks,
